I worked in florida jan-april , and then Jul-Aug in NYC.

My W2 form(NY-state filing copy) shows'state wages and Tips'(column-16) as the total fedreal wages ( earned in NY+earned in FL), aginst what I think should be - the amount earned in NY.

This may amount to more NY state tax, Can anyone explain me, is this a mistake in W2 or correct entry? If it is correct what can be the reason for this?

PS: My ADP statement says NewYork requires total Fedral wages to be reported in Box 16

NY does require NY wages to total federal wages. When preparing your NY part year resident return, simply enter just the NY state portion of income.

If you're a full-year resident of NY, all wages are taxed, not just those earned in NY.
