Hi, i am writing an article using Microsoft Word 2002, i want to make the 1st letter of the 1st word drop down, like they usualy have on articles, so it is bigger than the rest and bolder, how do i do this?

Look under the format menu for dropped cap, then select the style you want.

I dont know if Word 2002 and 2003 work similar, but in Word 2003 type the first word, then select Format/Drop Capital. This will give you a choice of how your text will look.

Other than that look in Help and ask for 'Drop Capital' .

Format menu,Drop Cap,select dropped.Done.You can re-size it if you require.

Easy methods include putting the first letter in a text box or a frame.

choose a larger font size for first letter then switch back to required font for the rest of the text
