Take her dancing! Women love to dance and there's not that much talking involved, let your body's do the talking. That way she'll loosen up and then maybe the two of you can sit down and talk more openly with each other. She's already taken a big step by asking you out now you have to bring the rest out of her.

Take it for what it is. Maybe she is shy and is just being careful and wants to get to know you first which is perfectly understandable. I would be cautious as well on the first date. I would not say that she is necessarily standoffish but just wanting to get to know you somewhat at first. Maybe she is watching your movements and what you say to get a read on you and you should be doing the same. It is best to be cautious at first because you never know the real person until you have been with them a few times and known how they may be through a few weeks.

She is trying to be a coquette my friend. A coquette is someone who will be warm and gentle at first but can change moods very quickly.

well it takes big ballz to ask a man out. It is weird that she was like that on the date. I would suggest going out with her again and maybe she will loosen up maybe she was nervous. I
