Since Kodak Imaging, I can not find an easy scanning program. HP Director stinks, right? Document Imaging was good but Microsoft does not let me use it any more. So?

Paperport Viewer is only for viewing paperport files. It can not be used for scanning. You will need the full paperport program in order to scan from it. It is worth the cost if you can afford it. If you can't, consider going to ebay to purchase an older version.
Otherwise, go to http://www.downloads.com and give some of the programs they have a try to see if any work for you.

for spyware - download spybot 2008 (free n easy) for virus protection - download 'avast antivirus' (free n relatively easy) - both r good programs, just be careful with spybot - it is v. powerful, but luckily u can choose what to delete after it finds possible bad files, just dont let it delete any registry files (C/WINDOWS/System32) - these are important files - leave them alone unless problems persist - then get professional advice.
