The primary reason why corruption is so widespread is the environment at home. As a child one sees it happening at home and takes it for granted or as a way of life. In a survey most children seemed to like corrupt ministers.
Secondary reason is the working environment. When you find every body in it, you would also like to indulge in it and get scot free.
Tertiary reason is the structure of the society. In India it is conducive to corruption. You favour my son and I will favour yours. You ask for dowry and I give you by fleecing money from others.
You are my cousin, how can I ignore you. I will give your son good grades and you give me the gift and do the same to my son.
You give me a berth in the train out of turn and I pay you 200 rupee. You give vote to your caste men, don't you. When such things go on, corruption will not end. You have to get the better of temptation. It calls for internal strength. Swimming against the current is revolution, and it requires that, to remove corruption.

The major reason for corruption is poverty, Peoples needs have become so high that they are ready to do anything to satisfy their needs, Some cant afford two times proper meals also, some have a big family to take care of, Some peoples needs are too high that their normal salary cannot afford the luxuries they want

as long as we are encouraged to value things outside of ourselves (such as money, influence, and power,) instead of learning to value concepts or ideals (such as truth, beauty, and goodness,) we are susceptible to what you call corruption.
