I use this - it takes away the nasal symptoms eg running nose, sneezing immediately - but I only know what it is called in the UK. - Vick's First Defence Nasal Spray.
It is not a medicine it is a product which keeps the lurgey trapped in the product and prevents you from experiencing the symptoms. Take with paracetamol (acetominophen) and maybe a nice steam inhalation with some menthol rub put into boiling water in a bowl (place your head over the bowl and drape a towel over the whole ensemble, over 12's only and take care).
Don't forget the chicken soup too - you need to make it yourself with chicken, carrots, onions, potatoes and barley - I rarely touch meat but this is a definite if you are poorly.
Onions boiled and eaten along with drinking the yellow cooking juices will also reduce symptoms.
(May you have a wonderful day and a long life of happiness together.)

Congrats on your coming nuptuals!!! Drink theraflu and stay hydrated as much as possible. Orange juice has alot of vitamin C in it so that will be good. TRY not to do too much, which is probably impossible since your wedding is tomorrow!! If you have a lot of cough and congestion, buy robitussin DM from the store and drink alot of fluids to thin out the secretions. If you have a runny nose, use saline nosespray that will dry your nose up some so that you will not sniffle your wedding vows:) If you are running fever alternate Ibuprofen and tylenol every 4 hours as prescribed in the bottle. These home remedies should work some. If you get really bad go to a clinic that is open on weekend or to the ER and explain the situation, maybe they can give you a shot of Rocephin if you have an infection to speed up yor healing!!! Good luck!!!

If your cold just started then there are a few things you can do:
- find over the counter mix of vitimin C, echinacea, and Zinc; this prevents if from getting worse and it can be found at Walmart in things like cough drops. I personally like the gummy bear formula at Walmart (in the vitamin section).
- some people swear by vitamin C in pure form - orange juice, grapfruit juice. The problem with too much vitamin C is that it cause tummy aches, but it takes alot of it to help your cold.
- There is also a formula (expensive I think - 10-15 dollars) that comes in a nasal spray or dissolve pill form called Zicam. It really helped me to speed up my cold, but better to use at start of cold.
If you are in the middle of cold you can still take Vitamin C, Zinc, and Echinacea. Halls cough drops makes these. Drink lots of water to flush out the bacteria in your body - this does help alot. And believe it or not, there is now evidence that Chicken noodle soup (added with pepper) helps a little bit. Also, I take Alcaceltzer (wrong spelling ) cold formula - daytime formula and it really seems to make me feel better.
Good Luck

A very good decongestant is clarinase n you can take it 1 tablet 2x a day. problem is, this is a restricted drug and you should have a prescription from a doctor who have a S2 license. But if you lucky enough, some small time drugstore are not strict about prescription, you can buy some pills from there. And if you really want to have a drastic effect to get rid of your colds, you can have flixotide nasal spray- all you have to do is spray twice in each nostrils ang bingo, congestion will be gone.

PLEASE try these 3 remedies...EVERY time I feel run-down or get that tickly feeling in my throat I take these 3 things and it NEVER turns into a full-blown cold.
1) Olive Leaf Extract by "Herb Pharm"....it's in liquid form, and has no side effects...it immediately goes to work to kill any viruses in you...and it's all natural.
2) "JarrowDophilus", by "Jarrow Formulas"...it will keep the healthy "flora" in your body in perfect balance which keeps your immune system strong.
3) "Emergen-C" Vitamin C packets by "Alacer"
All three can be purchased at "Whole Foods Market", possibly "Trader Joe's", or call your local health food store to inquire about these 3 products.
EVERY friend and family member who has taken this advice, hardly ever gets sick.
For your throat: "Peaceful Mountain--Throat Rescue"
You will NEVER find a more powerful throat spray which is all-natural....soothing, fast acting, and kills bad bacteria on contact.
You'll see!! :) Get well soon!
