I use my HDTV as my PC monitor. Will viewing DVD's via my PC give as good quality as the HD DVD player for the XBox?

you pc ill give the same viewing quality for normal sd dvd's. if you have hd dvd's then the hd set up is obviously better. you would be better off with a ps3 which has a Blu-Ray player built in.

Yes it is because it costs something like £200, then a hd dvd player will probably cost £700, that's the same for dvd players when they came out but you're not going to wait 10 years for the price to come down.

It is good system for the price but consider the PS3 that has BlueRay DVD, the next gen of DVD player. Most folks balk at the $599 price but a new BlueRay DVD cost this much alone so it is a good deal if you consider thet sell the system at a loss. ....of course they make their money on licensing and selling the games that go to the PS3 like all other system companies.

DO NOT GET A HD DVD PLAYER!!!! This is because HD-DVD is a BAD type of disk. I would recommend getting a Blu-Ray player because although it is more expensive, it can contain more inside it and can have better quality HD video!
