I'm assuming you two talk? well, there's the cutest little technique that my boyfriend used to ask me out. i'm sure it's killer when girls do it, too. i'll pretend your crush's name is Robert. Just act casual and let the words go. You want them to....
You: Hey Robert.
Robert: Hey (insert name here.)
You: Would you want to go out sometime?
Robert: I'd love to!
You: Hey Robert
Robert: Yeah?
You: Word on the street is we're going out.
and then give him a hug.

Ask him to a group event first. If things go smoothly you'll both feel more comfortable going somewhere alone.
