my guy friend is recently single from a long term thing. he knows that i am interested, but i told him i would never push for anything he wasnt ready for.

he is one of those guys who will read emails or listen to voicemails but doesn't respond very often.

i called him last week because i had a really really bad day and i left a voicemail that said 'you don't have to call back or anything, it's not a big deal, i've just had a crappy day and wanted to talk to someone. so, anyway..talk to you later.'

it took him a day, but he did call back. that really meant a lot to me. then yesterday i texted him with something really short and he wrote back within a minute.

he is becoming more responsive than usual, could this be a sign that he has a bit of interest of becoming more?

It could be....Why don't you find some way to hang out with him. You might be able to tell a little more about how he feels if you spend some time together now.

i dont know. if hes been dumped after along term relationship, he is probably lonely, and mises the feel of talking to women. therefore now he is taking a lot of time to call you, because, well, he has nothing better to do. i say you call him when hes home, and just have some conversation, and ask him to call you back at a SPECIFIC time. if you tell a guy theres a certain time to call you, he most likely will.

If he's not more interested in becoming more then he is in being a better friend at least. Looks good!

If you guys are really good friends and he's still single, then yes, it is a sign. Just take it easy.

Possibly, but if yu are on the edge of your seat about him and it shows, you might scare him away.....though I do understand i also believe in being honest like you are mentioning. All my best to you.
