Why do people seem to assume that all muslims hate the west and all white people and would blow them all up given the chance, but people don't think that all catholics are members of the IRA and out to blow up Britain (even though they have tried on numerous occassions).
They dont assume all Prodestants are memebers of the UDA etc.
Is it just because a lot of muslims arent white?

There was a time when the IRA were attacking England a lot more than any other terrorists.
Im just sick of coming on here and people are shouting about all muslims should be deported (yep including the ones born here).
I'm always going to generalise racists

Yeah. I think it's a racist issue. People are a lot easier to pick out if they look different and especially if their skin is a different colour.
How do you tell an Irish Catholic from a Protestant at a glance? I couldn't.
I have Muslim friends who tell me they feel a bit 'besieged'. They are conscious of getting looks in the street and no longer plan to visit the US because of hassles at customs last time. It's totally unacceptable but they are easy targets.
People seem to always like someone to 'demonise'. Centuries ago it was the Jews, the Catholics, 'Blacks' and now the Muslims. At the end of the war my Dad settled in England, having fought in a Polish division of the British Army. When looking for a flat, and even though he was wearing his uniform, he sometimes got short shrift because people thought he looked 'Italian'.
Education is the answer to xenophobia, but we obviously need more!

there is multiplicity to your question. Let me start with white? Most Muslims are not black,or Asian but are in fact white, Arabs are white not black.
I would make the wild guess if the Catholics or Protestants made a vow to destroy the United States, we would have a great deal of animosity toward them also.
To compare the IRA to the Muslims is a little bit ludicrous, as Muslims are in a religious war and the IRA has nothing to do with being Catholic, and everything to do with trying to remove an interloper, i.e. England
The UDA is the answer to the IRA again having nothing to do with religion. England (Protestant) attacked Ireland (Catholic) with superior forces won and took over Ireland. In doing so they removed folks from their homes and gave the properties to English men, leaving Irishmen totally disenfranchised. This has nothing to do with religion.

When people are unfamiliar with something they tend to generalize. Before air travel was common many people were terrified of flying because if a plane crashed it was big news and people had few memories to discredit the notion that planes were notion. Now much fewer people are afraid of flying even though statitistically it has always been safer than flying.
Many people in the west are much less familiar with Islam and are therefore much more likely to stereotype due to lack of counter evidence. It doesn't help that most of the news recently being made by members of the Muslim community isn't exactly happy.
Catholics are much more common in our history and people can quickly think of a Catholic friend who isn't dangerous and the stereotype doesn't hold. But what is the first thing you think of when you hear 'Catholic Priest'? That's probably because you don't know many Priests

Pagan covers all concept structures that are no longer Christian, Jewish or Islam. it relatively is an umbrella call. Wicca is a faith as is Witchcraft. yet you do no longer ought to be Wiccan to be a Witch. although frequently conversing in case you're Wiccan you're a Witch. even however some would argue that. Up till the Nineteen Eighties there became no separation between being Wiccan and being a Witch. although there are different forms of Witchcraft that are no longer Wiccan. And different Pagan Religions that don't call themselves Witches, including Heathens and extra.. you ought to learn it.... solid success

I don't assume that all Muslims hate the west. But I do wonder why moderarte Muslims don't know the historical story of Mohammad and his ways, and also wonder about them fully knowing the Koran surahs.
Either follow the Koran or don't claim being a Muslim.
Christians either follow the Bible or don't claim to be a Christian

Ignorance. Also I met an Muslim man about 8-10 yrs. ago who told me that Muslims will kill all the white people some day. I pray he was just a space case but it still put fear of Muslims in me. I am not being a racist or hate them. I'm am just stating the reason I have that fear. I pray God will take that fear from me.

I think people are more weary of muslims because they are more obvious than catholics.
Lets put it this way if I was getting on a train and muslim walked ib behind me, it would make me think but if a catholic got on a train behind me I wouldn't bat an eye lid.
WRONG I KNOW BUT I CAN'T HELP IT

They don't. It's a very standard contrivance that results from a sophomoric attempt to view yourself as on the 'moral high ground', trying to establish your identity as having more insight and wisdom than the 'common folk'. Many of us go through this at some point in our lives (usually between 16 and 25).

Everyone hates everyone else. If its different, we're frightened. if we're frightened of something we try to kill it. Thats life. And its ridiculous. What are you going to do about it? We're just stupid animals. I'd rather be a squirrel. But then if you're a red one, the grey ones will batter you. Everything is the same.

It's funny that you are attacking a generalization with a generalization. Intelligent people know that the majority of Muslims are not suicide bombing extremists.
