I was raised in the protestant church, believed whole heartedly but always had questions. As I got older and began to expose myself to knew people and ideas I had to reject christianity and god. The whole idea was ludicrous. Then I found science. What about you?

I was raised a Lutheran. Later, from the last of high school to early college, I really looked into what my beliefs were, what other's beliefs are, and the nature of belief, in general. I gradually came to realize that religion is just superstition.

My Mom was RC. Her first husband beat her and the RC church refused to allow her to divorce him. She left the RC Church and met a Russian Orthodox guy (my father). There were no nearby Russian Orthodox churches where I lived, and since the Episcopal Church has some strange similarities to the RO church, and is probably the closest to the RC church of all the Protestant religions (except the whole Pope thang), I grew up an Episcopalian or rather I should say that my mother dumped us off at Episcopal Sunday school. When I was of age, the minister asked if I wanted to be confirmed. I said no. I was shocked that he looked so wounded...I truly thought he would be happy because it meant less work for him! LOL. Basically, the logical inconsistencies of the Bible troubled me even as a child. I have been a quiet atheist for a long time but the events of 9/11, in which I lost a friend, made me realize that we cannot remain silent as religious zealots destroy the world.

I find it interesting that you say you HAD to reject christianity after meeting new people. Maybe these new people didn't understand your way of thinking and science has led you to believe that there must be a scientific answer for everything. Science HAS to understand faith & faith HAS to accept the advances in science. On a personal level i think anyone touched by faith will always be be with GOD.

I was raised Lutheran, and somewhere around the start of college simply outgrew it. Church was nothing but recitals of various fairy tales interspersed among vague platitudes and insincere praises to beings who never actually appeared.

If it were to turn out that the Christian God actually exists, and were like how Christians see him, I'd be _terribly_ disappointed. It's not merely that he doesn't exist, but he's so danged shallow and uninteresting. Why should I worship someone who isn't even half as smart as I am?

I was raised Baptist then became non-religious as an adolescent. Then after discovering science rejected religion completely in college.

Same page, different typist. I had to reject people who fail to respect what other believe in and force their beliefs on others. They are Evilangelists. There. I coined a new word.
I'm earth - spiritual.

I think T to A is very possible if you have half a brain.
A to T is only possible if you are an unstable element in some way.
