The mattress that I tried out in the store is 11 inches thick. Will I have to buy deep pocket fitted bottom sheets or can I use my standard fitted bottom sheets?

you should get the deep pocket fitted sheets and save yourself a lot of headaches. the others will drive you mad and you will end up buying them anyway. sweet dreams on your new bed!

Depends on your current sheets. If you have good quality sheets, greater than say, 200 thread count, they are made better and more generous so they will fit. If you don't, spend the extra money, get some good sheets. Martha Stewart has an affordable line at KMart that have 300 thread count. Don't waste your time on cheap sheets. You really only need 2 sets any way, you can get both for under $100.

Most standard fitted sheets fit pillow top mattresses now. But the package that your sheets come in will usually state what thickness of mattress they will fit.
