I thought this would make a cool question:

Do you know how to fight Spiritual Warfare?
Have or do you fight Spiritual Warfare often?
Tell me how you personally do so.

Do you put on the whole armor of God to fight Spiritual Warfare?
Do you know what the whole armor of God is?
How often do you put it on, and how do you put it on?

The Bible says the weapons of our warfare are not carnal.
So then what do you believe our weapons are?

The Real War

Proverbs 16:25 (The Message) "There's a way that looks harmless enough; look again--it leads straight to hell."

When we are born-again, we are completely saved
We can never be more saved than the day we became saved
However, world views, concepts, ideas, behavior patterns are still there
There come the process of change
Apart fro God's intervention, we would not know His will
Isaiah 55:8-9
1 Corinthians 2:11
The thoughts of man (carnal) are in opposition to the ways of God
While totally a child of God at salvation, we become more "like" God over a period of time.

Spiritual Warfare—The main thrust of spiritual warfare has to do with who or what controls our thoughts

Proverbs 23:7 "For as he thinks in his heart, so is he…"
Matthew 22:37 "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind."
To love God as we ought, we need a changing of our thoughts Romans 12:2
In the renewing of our mind we come to discover the will of God
Romans 8:7 "Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be."
A person can be totally saved, yet be fully carnal e.g. sees the world through the eyes of man's wisdom, not in the light of God revelation Colossians 3:10

The Present State of the Enemy---Defeated

Hebrews 2:14
Colossians 2:15
John 12:31
The devil was defeated by Christ on the cross
We do not have to relight that battle

The Nature of the Enemy---He is a Liar/deceiver

Stripped of his authority---leaves him only the power to deceive
He cannot force us to do anything
He can influence our thinking, and thus influence our behavior
John 8:44
2 Corinthians 11:3

The Nature of the Battlefield

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ…"

Our weapons are for the pulling down strongholds

A stronghold is an established, entrenched, unbiblical thinking
A s piritual stronghold is a mind set impregnated with hopelessness that causes us to accept as unchangeable, situations that we know are contrary to the will of God. (Ed Silvosa)
Those with various addictions know what this hopelessness is

Our weapons are for the casting down arguments (Imaginations) and "high things"

Arguments--a reckoning, a reasoning, a judgment, decision
High Thing--an elevated place or thing, a barrier

Our weapons are for the bringing into captivity every thought—Controlling thoughts

The enemy can deceive us into uncontrolled thinking, which brings us to imaginations, which become strongholds, (Inverse progressions)

Where does a stronghold come from?

1. An unbiblical thought is allowed access to your thinking

2. The thought becomes a "high thing," a more developed concept, paradigm

3. The argument becomes a stronghold—difficult to dislodge

It is amazing how we can justify unbiblical thinking (resulting in unbiblical actions)

The enemy—the deceiver, endeavors to guide the though patterns of our minds

Balaam (Num 22-23) —Could not curse Israel, so he gave counsel to Israel's enemy.

Send in your women, cause immorality to come to Israel
God's judgment will come upon them

Numbers 31:16 "Look, these women caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to trespass against the Lord in the incident of Peor, and there was a plague among the congregation of the Lord."

If the war was as simple as casting out a demon, we would have no problems at all

Last week, we spoke of Bible memorization and meditation
By memorization of the scripture, and by meditation, we renew our minds
God has the opportunity to speak to us
We shun conformity to the worlds template of thought
Through renewed minds, we have renewed behavior

The main battle is not "out there" it is in our minds

Romans 12:2 (The Message) "Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you."

2 Corinthians 10:4-6 (The Message) "The tools of our trade aren't for marketing or manipulation, but they are for demolishing that entire massively corrupt culture. 5 We use our powerful God-tools for smashing warped philosophies, tearing down barriers erected against the truth of God, fitting every loose thought and emotion and impulse into the structure of life shaped by Christ. 6 Our tools are ready at hand for clearing the ground of every obstruction and building lives of obedience into maturity.

By making God's truth available to our minds, we have the basis to resist the thoughts, that become a paradigm, that become a stronghold.

God's Word, contrary to the strongholds in our lives, will bring His truth and hope, which will change our imaginations and arguments, which allow thought to become captive to Christ.

The armor of God is covered in Ep 6:13-18.
You gird your waist with truth is to have the word of God written in your heart (or belly) by revelation of the Spirit.
You put on the breastplate of righteousness by knowing that you have in you God's righteousness in Christ by faith in Christ's finished work on the cross.
You put on the shoes of the gospel of peace by being able to be a witness with the power of the Holy Spirit of the gospel of peace at all times.
You put on the shield of faith by knowing how to walk by faith and not by sight.
You put on the helmet of salvation by having your mind renewed to put on the mind of Christ.
You yield the sword of the Spirit when the Holy Spirit activates the words you speak from your mouth.
You pray always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit.
These are the seven weapons of spiritual warfare under the New Testament.

In Celtic spirituality (don't worry, there are Celtic Christians), when a person decides to become a warrior, they create an image of a weapon and a shield (usually drawn on paper). Then, when they need to be "strong", they simply recall the image of that weapon and shield into their mind.

Think of Gandhi...he won a war with "passive resistance". He never had to raise a sword. Neither did Martin Luther King Jr. Neither did Rosa Parks. Neither did Jesus. Their weapons and defenses came from inside of them, from their strength of character. That was their armor, and their sword.

Spiritual Warfare is fought with the word of God.

Spiritual warfare is fought using the resources God has given us.

I know how to fight and win. It starts with understanding who God is who your enemy is and who you are in God. Are you His saved child?

The enemy; the devil.

His weapons.

1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

You have the unlimited resources of God at your disposal through prayer. Spiritual Warfare is done every time you pray.

James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. The word flee means to run from as if in danger.

The spiritual armor is made up of the character of Jesus. Putting on the armor is James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God.

The weapons are prayer, praise, thanksgiving, positive communication and outlook.

In use offensively. Quote scripture out loud regarding the circumstances. See Matthew 4:1-11 for Jesus example of how to conduct Spiritual Warfare.

Obedience to The Bible is also key. God blesses obedience with answered prayer and faith. Reading and meditating on His Word increase your faith and strengthen His character in you making it easier to obey Him. See Psalm 1.

This prayer has been vary effective in waging my own warfare.

Heavenly Father,

I claim the Name, Authority, and power of Jesus. I claim the armor of light and righteousness.

I ask for the filling of The Holy Spirit. Please wash me in the blood of Jesus. This day The Lord rebuke the devil and command that he flee.

Encamp Your angels about me. Please be my strength (Psalm 27:1). Father, if there is any doubt or lack of confidence in You, Please remove it and replace it with faith.

Please convert lost souls to You and indwell them on their invitation. Glorify Yourself with me today. Display Your power before all. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Victory depends on the stability of the obedience.

I hope this helps you.

God Bless You.

I have participated in ministry in parts of the city that people never go, and where ambulances come and go like buses.

Before the ministry starts I go out there by myself and walk around the periphery of the area, and pray that God will protect our activities and keep our people safe while we are there.

While we are there, we pray that God will shower His blessings on the area, provide them with increase, and build a hedge of protection against Satan.

As to the Armor of God;

I wear it when I wake up, when I sit down, when I walk, when I talk, when I lay down, when I sleep.

I am girded with the truth.
I have a breastplate of righteousness.
My feet or shod with the gospel of peace.
I carry the shield of faith.
I wear the helmet of salvation.

I pray always with all payer and supplication of the Spirit.
I open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel.
I am an ambassador for Christ.

Nature of the War - Two Opposing Kingdoms - Satan vs God

Conflict - universal

Ephesians 6:10-12
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might.
Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

What the Bible tells us is "our wrestling match is not against flesh and blood, not against persons with bodies, but against rulers with various areas and descending orders of authority, against the world-dominators of this present darkness, against spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenlies. This is an enormous conflict that staggers the mind to even consider. Jesus drove out demons that were seriously afflicted with horrible mental problems.

As our mental problems increase today our need to learn of the armor of God is very important.

BATTLEGROUND - The battlefield is in THE MIND

First - the girdle of TRUTH
Second - the breastplate of RIGHTEOUSNESS
Third - the shoes of the preparation fo the GOSPEL
Fourth - the shield of FAITH
Fifth - the helmet of SALVATION
Sixth - the sword of the SPIRIT - WORD OF GOD

Ephesians 6:13
Therefore, take up the full armor of God, that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to STAND FIRM.
14.STAND FIRM therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness.
15. and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace
16 in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming missiles of the evil one.
17. And take the helmet of salvation, and the word of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

To get to the first one TRUTH, you need to stop lying one lie at a time. God hates a liar - so stop lying.

The only righteousness in us is Jesus Christ in us.

You must have peace to present the gospel in love.

Faith increases as you receive more and more of the Word of God.

My helmet of Salvation is my hope in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Sword of the Spirit - the Word of God - know the Bible so you will be prepared to quote Scripture when it is needed. Three times Jesus told Satan "It is Written" and Satan understood the Word of God is final.

Not sure you really want the answer to this, the answer of how to fight lies in 2 cor 10:3-5. Indeed our weapons are not carnal, they are prayer, worship, "it is written" the written word of God, these weapons have "Devine power" (doonatos in the greek) ((where we get our word dynamite)) in other words these weapons have explosive power do damage the enemy as identified in eph. 6:12.

...This comes a favorite part of the Bible, from Ephesians 6, which says:
...10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.
...11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.
...12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
...13 Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.
...14 Stand firm therefore, HAVING GIRDED YOUR LOINS WITH TRUTH, and HAVING (AH)PUT ON THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS,
...15 and having shod YOUR FEET WITH THE PREPARATION OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE;
...16 in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
...17 And take THE HELMET OF SALVATION, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
...18 With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints,
...19 and pray on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel,
************************************************************
...We are empowered by the Holy Spirit, who is Eternal God, and He indwells the Christian.
...The only offensive weapon we have is Scripture, the sword of the Spirit. I do know the Bible pretty well.
...My failing is that I forget to pray or don't pray enough, especially for opportunities to share the Gospel.
...Spiritual warfare is a moment-by-moment thing, esecially in the mind. There is war going on, often invisible to the believer, not flesh and blood, but spiritual forces battling each other. We are to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, as in war, and it is war for the Christian.
...2 Corinthians 10:5 says this:
..."We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ",
...Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved (Acts 16:31)
...Whosoever will, may come.
