Religions like to keep things simplistic. It's easier to sway people if you keep it in terms of black and white. If you start talking about grey areas and exceptions, people may start thinking on their own and start questioning the religion, itself. That's why religion tends to portray good and evil as some kind of energy that you're filled with or substance that you're tainted with, or beings that are at war with each other in some cosmic battle.
In fact, good and bad are judgements made by people. It's no more or less than that. They are opinions. However, some things do tend to help people live happier lives and some things are counterproductive to society. So, it is good to have those judgements. But those judgements should be discussed and debated, not dictated by people claiming to have a direct line to some deity.

Sure, we CAN look at it like that and, I dare say, some people do. But life is indeed more complex than that.
Look at the yin, yang. While composed of black and white, the symbol shows that each contains a seed of the other. And how could it be otherwise? Without light we could not recognise dark and vice versa.
I don't believe in absolutes, be it light/dark, good/evil or wrong/right. Nor in fixity. Nothing is always one thing. Stare at the sun, then look into the heart of an atomic explosion and the sun will seem dark by comparison. (Why did I pick that analogy? No idea!)
Life is complex. It would be boring otherwise!

This is an interesting paradox. Am happy you asked because this ties to the power of satan and God in theory.
There is a fight alright.
Is it between light and darkness tho? When people struggle against something, how can you tell whether theyre on the side of the darkness?
Just because a policeman is after the crook doesnt mean hes on the side of the light, because he could very well be doing it all for the money and not really care whether the crooks are guilty or not.
He just does his job.
No life isnt that simple.
But there comes a time when a ruler, has to make a decision between giving into bribery by forces who want to use him for their own good. I believe there is a struggle going on within that man.
And when you see an old lady being robbed, you have this urge to stop it...what is that?
The war is there yes, but its not won with bullets and guns.
Its won by knowing what is right and wrong and having the courage to do what is right no matter what.
But this isnt always a tangible thing.
So your answer is YES and NO

We tend to make it more complex then it needs to be. Gods' word is the light that sheds light on darkness( lies, deceptions) and reveals truth. Study Gods word and you will see that life does not have to be so complex. We spend so much time trying to explain life when God has done the work for us. If we would just pick up the book and study it, really study it. Not just pick out a sentence here and there and say aha, what a bunch of fiction. If one really studies it, and prays that the Holy Spirit will teach them, there is not a contradiction in the bible.

You have asked 2 questions? Is there a fight between good and bad? then you should reconsider what is good and bad....... And that is kind of your second question right? Can we define good and bad? well it all depends on the culture of a persons environment, the religion or belief they follow and even what part of society they place them selves in.........
ex1: If you live in India and your a really rich person you'd expect poor and middle class people to give you lots of respect like stand up when you enter a room, etc. If your in some other country that doesn't like to treat people in such an inferior way you'd say that is bad
ex2: If your a Buddhist you'll say that it is wrong to take Beer or any other Alcohol, and if your in some other religion that excepts that you wouldn't be doing something wrong.
ex3. If you live by prostitution, You'll say it's ok to sell your body to any one for good money... (Don't ask me in my opinion in that)
So you see good and bad can vary and again....
..... you could start to define the shades of grey.... as in is it good or bad to kill terrorist, or would lying to a person good or bad, is gambling good????????
I guess it's all about who you are and where you are, socially and mentally......... not a universal answer
Then again I guess you should watch films like....... Matrix, Fight Club, Star Wars and read a lot of reviews on them......

There's lots of shades of grey. Light/dark good/evil cannot exist without the other half of the equation so to have one, you must have the other. To just observe and not put judgmental labels on things is the way to be.

Light. There is no such thing as darkness. Darkness is just the absence of light. There is light all around you. Look at something around you. That object is reflecting and/ or generating light that travels to you and different frequencies of this light shows shadows, dents, etc. So Dark does not exist and light is faster.

Everything is far more complicated than that. I steal a loaf of bread that is wrong, but if I am starved by the state because they tell me I cannot work because I am unworthy and have blue eyes. I must survive on one loaf a week and I steal the bread for my children I do wrong but for the right reasons in bad circumstances.
