16 months is actually very early to be talking much at all. I wouldn't worry about it. My 2 year old didn't start saying much of anything until she was 18 months. Give it time, kids learn at their own rate, and she may just be stubborn. Read to her often, point to pictures in a book and say what they are. If there is a puppy on the page, point to it and say "puppy!". Say it in a fun, exciting way. If she likes puppies, and likes the tone of voice you use, she will want to start saying it herself. She'll even be asking to see the "puppy" and maybe even bring you the book.
Good luck with this and just remember, children develop at their own rate. Don't let anyone ever tell you your child has a problem. It's still too early to tell. People compare their kids to others all the time, they see a child progressing faster than theirs and automatically think something is wrong with their child. All kids are different . Again, good luck with this!

Okay...I have had this problem with my 4 year old. She had a speech delay and of course, I didn't notice it, but everyone else did. I took her to the dr. when she was 3 and they said that I should have her evaluated. We had her ears checked and eyes as well...turns out she was healthy in those departments. So, I enrolled her into a school (which is 4 days a week for 2 1/2 hours) and all they do is help her learn things and then go over speech therapy. If you are this concerned...talk to your dr. about speech therapy and see what he has to say. I know my daughter has been in therapy now for a little over a year and it has worked wonders. She speaks in full sentences and even though, some of her words are a little jumbled...we still completely understand what she's saying. I wouldn't be too worried right now...a lot of kids don't start talking until the age 3, but wouldn't hurt to check it out!!!
Good luck and I hope this helps!

The legal age is sixteen in Canada, so as that takes away the priority of statutory rape. i'm 14 years older than my better half, yet then i'm in my mid 50s and he's in his early 40s which provides us so plenty extra existence adventure in worry-loose. If something, he's the "brake" on my impetuosity, and while i'm all gung-ho to circulate skydiving from a aircraft he's the single which will ring a bell in me I had my knee replaced purely six months in the past and is skydiving truly such a competent concept! If I have been going to make a education: paintings on turning out to be acquaintances -- and intensely stable acquaintances, at that -- in the previous even thinking introducing intercourse into the relationship. you have already got a stable deal of existence adventure which he would not; and one element that's worry-loose between gay and right away men is that our first genuine romantic and sexual adventure is truly severe and that is genuine elementary for us to get our hearts broken. He may be appealing, and seem and act like an grownup, yet he remains sixteen years previous. i'm no longer announcing which you mustn't have a relationship with him in some unspecified time interior the destiny, yet i do no longer think of you prefer to threat breaking his coronary heart, quite whilst the two one in each of you're sharing a hire -- so my suggestion would be to circulate sluggish.

I've had hundreds of kids through my door, and I'll be honest with you- some kids don't talk until they are 3. She is fine- just remember, even though she isn't verbalizing, she is learning. You could start adding signs to words like "hungry" or "apple" or "grandmas house" so she won't get frustrated that she can't get her point across to you. Don't worry, and don't compare. Right now, I have 2 little girls who are both 5 months old- one is almost walking, holds a bottle and says ba ba and da da. The other one just lays there, can't roll, can barely hold a toy, can't sit, can't crawl or pull up- and you know what? Their parents are crazy over it! It's silly- all kids are different, your doctor will tell you if there are major problems.

invest in flash cards...or make your own..if you make your own make sure they are about things your daughter likes...so if she likes dora...print a picture of Map with the word MAP on top..and glue it to a colorful notecard!
also I have my sister who has 2 boys..one is 2 and one is 3 1/2 and she also has a 5 year old girl..then my other sister has a 3 1/2 year old girl. The 2 year old boy talks better than the 3 1/2 year old boy....and the 3 1/2 year old girl talks better than the 5 year old..so its not really a problem..but if it bothers you..just try the flash cards:)

all children are different and their speech development can depend on a lot of things. don't panick just yet. I know 3 year olds that are only just starting to talk at an 'age appropriate' level. it doesnt mean that yur baby girl is any less intelligent or anything like that. trust me enjoy the peace and quiet while u can.

Sounds like she is very clever. i have had 3 children like that and i have found that the reason why mine didn't talk was because i was doing all the talking for them. All they had to do was to point and i would say do you want a drink or food anything. So use parents can be the reason why our kids dint talk. Stop telling her what she wants and let her tell you. Very good luck.

Don't worry about it. Just keep talking to her. She will talk in her own time. However if she is not talking by age 2-3 have her checked out for a developmental delay. Also have her hearing checked.

In folk, they say feed those with pig's genital. But I think it's not true. Don't worry that much. Your child need some training just talk to her everyday and let her watch tv.
