The multi-exposure mode on the S9500 cannot be operated in auto mode. For example, if you set the camera to P (Programmed) and press Menu/OK, scroll to the second page of options and enable the 'multi-exposure'. If you take a photo you shall receive a multi-exposure dialog, and by pressing the right arrow button, you can take another picture, amassing multi-exposures. Press Menu/OK button to join the exposures.

Since your question is really an answer, let me answer it with a question: why would they build that into a camera?

I'd sooner take two separate photos and combine them with Photoshop.
