i have the same problem...and my hair is also ginger! its disgusting. ive found that straightening really helps to make your hair appear thinner. i invested in GHDs and id never go back. use protective spray with them, and your hair is left smooth and shiney
hope this helps

I also have very thick and curly hair. Thinning shears just seem to make it puffier and frizzier because it makes it all different lengths. I've learned a few things over the years to help. First, you can't wash it everyday. Curly hair is drier than straight hair and washing it every day makes it worse. Try every other. Get a good conditioner like Pantene hydrating curls to help keep it hydrated. Using a good gel also helps to keep them together and under control. Try a few different kinds. Also, put a spray in concditioner in a spray bottle and use it to fix your hair on your off day from washing.
The web site below specializes in curly hair, but none of their salons are near me or I would go in a heartbeat. I have tried their Climate Control and it works EXCELLENT. I went to a rainforest at a zoo with my kids and my hair didn't frizz a bit and I usually leave there looking a mess. They have alot of other products and info too.

i dont think you should put a relaxer in your hair - they can be dangerous and they are expensive and dont always work.
I know most girls would kill for thick curly hair, i already have thick hair so i know how you feel... When i donated 23 inches they couldnt barely cut through the pony tail, they said it was like cutting grass...
Either way, you look at girls with poker-straight hair that have no volume and they cant do anything with it, why would you want hair like that?
I love curly hair, mine just doesnt always curl unless i make it.
I say, embrase what God gave you and love your hair!

You have no idea how lucky you are, as others have told you. When you have flat straight hair (as I do), there is absolutely nothing you can do other than getting a perm to give it body, etc. You can buy a good ceramic hair straightener if you want your hair straight, but if you look at photos of full curly hair and compare them to people with flat straight hair....it does nothing for their facial features. Fuller hair frames the face, and brings out your features much more so than flat straight hair. Since you already have the curls (and thinckness), you have the option to get the straightener and have the best of both worlds.

I know what you mean...about the thick hair part...I'm not jealous of your thick curly hair though..I actually feel sorry for you...have you tried going to a top of the line salon..they usually do the best (my friend has super thick super curly hair..and she has to go to one of the best in WI to get her hair the way she wants it) if you are going to use a relaxer..get it done at a salon..dont do it yourself...

Have you thought about getting your hair permanently straightened? Obviously it will grow out... but no more curls until then! When it starts to grow you can always get the roots done. The Asian salons are the best at straightening.

Well I have the same problem and what i got told is to just cut it short or deal with it and grow it long so it wont frizz out after it gets to long. I use shampoo conditioner which controls it during the day a bit.

If you hate it, do whatever you can. Hair grows, and it will always grow back. Cut it as short as you can stand it.. see if its cute that way..
I know about having thick hair, I have really long thick hair. While I like it being long, I hate that its so thick, because I can't do anything with it. Its sooooo straight. I can't have any waves in it, they won't stay.

Get a hair iron. You should only need to use it once or twice a week
