On a budget for my wedding so ive managed to buy most things really cheap for the reception. Balloon weights seem to be really ewxpensive so im going to fill organza bags with coloured gems and use them for the balloon weights. The things is i don't know how to keep the balloon ribbon inside. How would i attach inside the bag? Ideas please it's driving me nuts.

I would put two holes in the bag and weave the ribbon through. Then, tie a bow on the outside of the bag. You could put more holes if you want it to go all the way around the bag. I would also use excessive amounts of ribbon to make the bows bigger...if you want. Good luck!

When you say coloured gems, do you mean those coloured glass stones you put in the bottom of flower vases etc?

If so, how about some PVA glue (which dries clear). Use to glue the ribbon to one of the stones, maybe wrap it round, leave to dry then load in the organza with some other stones! Or maybe even sellotape the balloon ribbon round a stone.

Good luck and enjoy your day.

I cut out circles of the fabric used for the bridesmaids' dresses and ties and filled them with stones from the garden centre (they come in different colours), then tied ribbon around them. Don't forget to find a team of helpers to put them all in place on the day!
I made my own favours, too, using the traditional sugared almonds, but would probably use something more original next time - Smarties?
Enjoy the day!

You could try making your own candy ( chocolate, for example). Something I do for get-togethers is I take semi-cheap spoons, scoop up melted chocolate, and freeze it. You could always have monogrammed spoons, I've seen them before. You could make your own picture frames- and use them as place cards. And when the wedding is said and done with, your guests can use them to put a picture in. You could also make your own CD's for guests...put songs that will be played at your wedding on there, or just songs you and your "to-be" likes. There's a bunch of ideas out there. Like others have said, try Micheals, Hobby Lobby, Oriental Trading Company, etc. Good Luck & Congrats!

try and glue the ribbon to the gems instead.....
a friend of mine used nylon strings instead of ribbons to tie the balloons to the goody bags...it looked good, have the illusion that the balloons are floating in air (with the strings)

You could get some big beads, tie the ribbon through the hole, then hide it amongst the beads
