If Global warming is man made, why was this year only the warmest since 1659? why not the warmest ever?

Do you really believe the media hype that we are on a road to catastrophe.

NO! It is exactly that-HYPE! The "scientists" who support the theory are people who are and or have been threatened by loss of funding if they don't play along and the ultimate goal is to get the US to sign the Kyoto treaty which limits what the US can use for energy and expel as pollutants, but doesn't limit what Japan and China and Korea can do. IT IS entirely a political ploy! There is no evidence that has been reproducible that man has anything to do with global warming at all and there has yet to be an experiment designed that fits the actual observations on earth as well. The entire hoax is a joke when it comes to actual science! Global warming caused by greenhouse gases is still a hypothesis by scientific criteria and to draw the conclusions that have been made in the media is not only junk science, but it is also totally irresponsible reporting, because it has been portrayed as fact and its supporters practice contempt of other ideas prior to investigation, which is a sure sign of ignorance!

Qwerty; The problem with that movie is that it isn't true and if you believe that it is , I have some oceanfront property in Arizona to sell you cheap!

I don't believe any media hype. I've been reading outside the usual media presentations. I've actually done a huge amount of research on it and I'm convinced that global warming is something that we need to address.

Yes, climate change occurs naturally. And yes, man is the cause of the current global warming.

There are natural cycles of about 20,000 years, 40,000 years and 100,000 years that have been somewhat regular over the last 800,000 years for which we've been looking at ice core samples. (There's information from other sources such as sea sediments that goes back further, but it's not contradictory.) The information from the ice cores leads us to infer that we have been enjoying a cyclical warm period and we were about to head back into an ice age.

However, due to the buildup of greenhouse gases, the descent into ice age isn't happening. This would be a good thing except that the buildup is so huge as to send things reeling in the other direction.

This recent buildup is primarily due to deforestation, end products of fossil fuel combustion and methane produced by livestock. Right now CO2 is at a level 30% greater than any seen during the last 800,000 years and the rate of CO2 increase hasn't been seen in millions of years.

Here's some background info on climate change from a politically neutral source written about 8 years ago: http://www.lakepowell.net/sciencecenter/paleoclimate.htm .I found one inaccuracy in it. It says, "So far in the past 18,000 years, the earth's temperature has risen approximately 16 degrees F and the sea level has risen 300 feet." That directly contradicts the graph above where it shows a rise of only 5c which is 9 degrees F. Otherwise, the information seems to agree with other stuff I've read.

The 4th IPCC report was made available a week ago and said basically that the science was unassailable. It had been presented to policy makers earlier and as a result, Bush got into line in his SOTU address. And now, ExxonMobile, which had been responsible for funding most of the global warming skepticism (http://www.exxonsecrets.org/ ), just put out a statement saying basically the same thing (http://www2.exxonmobil.com/Corporate/Newsroom/NewsReleases/corp_nr_mr_climate_ipcc.asp ).

I think the discussion now is going to be more centered on what to do about it rather than whether or not it's a problem.

Global warming is at the fore front because politicians found how to use a new platform to get re-elected. The world leadersuse it because they found ways to make money at it. This is a made up problem just like Global Cooling in the 1970's. Wake up people. I agree we need to be more efficient with our resources, and we should fine and jail companies who are dumping into our rivers maliciously. I want to stop the raiforest destruction, but to say that global warming is a serious man made issue and we need to destroy the American economy and bow down to the rest of the world certainly does not float my boat. Follow the money on this one and you will see that it is all for political gain and grant money for those scientists who profit off of the government if global warming stays at the front of the issues. Look deep into the Keoto (sp?) Treaty, first of all they took jets to a non-central resort location. Not very environmentally concious. THen in the parameters of the treaty they have a clause that makes it so you can buy or sell polution credits. This is all about shifting wealth and breaking down the United States. This is painfully obvious, just look at peoples agenda. The earth's mean temperature has risen .6 degrees C in the past 125 years. Greenland's icecaps have gotten colder in the past 10 years. The Scientists who do not gain anything on their posisition will tell you that the earth has a natural progression and this is what we are seeing. The UN report is made up of POLITICIANS not a good spread of scientists. THere are as many or more scientists who believe that man in NOT the reason and it is over hyped, but their voice is not heard in the LIberal Mainstream Media. WAKE UP AMERICA, IT IS TIME TO BE AMERICANS. FOR THE PEOPLE BY THE PEOPLE. STOP THE LIES

Global warming is a $5Billion business in the USA alone. By questioning peoples motives, you are taking food from their mouths, and the roofs over their heads!

After all, how could they make those large car payments if people no longer believed? Remember how many people were out of work after the Y2K hype failed to appear? You wouldn't want that to happen again, so do your part and just believe!

I believe that global warming is real. The poster who said that you should watch An Inconvenient Truth is right... It gives a very good explanation of everything.
If there is no such thing of global warming then please explain to me how for nearly a week (sporadically) during January it was in the upper 70's in VA and then in the following days it would drop all the way into the teens. This goes way beyond just your average jet stream.

in case you want to receive provide money for climate learn, do you imagine that you receives a cheque when you're saying," i want the provide, as i imagine that i can educate that the figures that the present paradigm is depending upon are incorrect" ? the excellent environmentalist, David Bellamy, has been silenced, and refused airtime. there continues to be no shown causative link between the quantity of Co2 in the ambience, and an enhance in international temperatures. The WWWF images of the polar bears swimming were taken in the Arctic summer; at the same time as the ice cap in part melts, as they couldn't upward push up to image in the iciness. The ice grow to be too thick! The East-Anglian uni learn figures. "Oh! The figures do not tournament our expectations. Oh properly. keep quiet. because all of us understand that we are actual." at the same time as the idea, and the religion is more beneficial major than squarely dealing with the valid doubts of dissimilar non provide-supported scientists, technology has been superceded through non secular zealots. As Oliver Cromwell colourfully suggested." I pray thee, in the bowels of Christ, evaluate that thou mayest be incorrect."

Global Warming is going on. There is a hole in the ozone due to pollutants and what not, but global warming doesn't mean that the whole world gets warmer. I think the reason they call it global warming is b/c the ice caps are melting due to the sun rays b/c of the ozone and what not, but that's just what I think and I think that we should start to be more environmental-friendly, but that's just my opinion.

farsighted scientists have been aware of the negative facts years ago as long as 40 ,i heard about many things 10 years ago

the information below does not come from the media

if anything the media ,which acts largely on behalf of the governments down play Global warming because the nessecary changes means government expense as well as loss of revenue for operational energy sources, and leaves them open to political pressures

in North Africa,India,Mexico ,millions of people are effected by land loss and desertification

in recent times thousands of people have died because of exessive heat, usually old people.in India ,Mexico and France,
deforestation causing desertification, the desert conditions causing very cold nights and scorching hot days

in china, thousands of what used to be farmers are running for their lives from the dust storms that have burried their towns and turned their lands into dessert, the globe where they were got to hot for them .
and instead of producing food they are now needing it from some where else, and they will drastically effect the world food prices when they start buying water in the form of grains ,at any cost destabalising governments, in some countries ,could be the result
(are you seeing more Chinese around interested in agricultural lands ,we do here in Mexico)

,the Sahara is growing by 7 kilometers a year
and all of the desserts we know are a results of mans actions ,and they are increasing ,not getting less ,in the dinosaurs days ,there were no desserts.

collectively this planet is drying up because of bad farming practices like, over grazing and fertilizers,

as far as the food production is concerned, Global warming or some of its effects are serious, rising seas result in landloss

each degree rise in temperature means 10%crop loss

more landloss because of desertification every year,we have less areble land to produce food ,for an extra 70 million people ,

and there is less and less water (because of deforestation),to irrigate this production ,
and there are less and less farmers to do it..
who are overpumping deep carbon aquifiers
who are plowing more and more unstable lands because they have lost so many million hectares to desertification ,
because of bad farming practises ,such as using fertilizers and heavy machinary or over grazing

RISING SEAS
The northpole is melting ,and we will know it without ice in our life times.
this does not affect the sea level because it is ice that is already in the water.but the melting ice from Green land and the south pole ,are another matter.

Global warming is in theory reversable, but it will mean global co operation between all countries ,and taking into account human nature and the world politics ,it is unlikely that this will happen,

At least not untill we are all in the middle of planetary disastres and it becomes a battle for the survival of humanity every where.

SOLUTIONS
if you want to help the planet ,plant a tree every week ,if everyone on the planet did we we would be able to reverse the destructive processes, what every school kid can do is plant trees ,where ever and when ever possible ,and we do this in Mexico,

what helps a lot for polution is that if everybody has a little compost heap by the house to take care of all the households organic waste,Organic waste mixed with rubbish is responsible for 70%of all contamination

reduce carbon emisions, and they are already working on that by alternative forms of energy and regulations on carbon producing materials, aerosol cans, burning rubbish, industrial chimneys, powerplants etc.

the capture of carbon and the production of water and assist the aquiferous manta.

the world bank pays large subsidies for reforrestation to capture carbon and the best tree for this is the Pawlonia

Waterharvesting projects ,such as millions of small dams.to redirect over ground waterflows from the rains into the ground to supply subteranian water supplies.

the protection of existing forrests.

stop building more highways, urban planning to include vegetation stop building cities encourage people to return to the land to conduct their business from there which now has become possible thanks to the internet.

education to motivate people to auto sufficiency by building more home food gardens.

education on environmental awareness
education on family planning to curb over´populaion

Agricultural education and improvements to follow the principals or sustainability and soil management.

more environmental or land ,design to prevent bush fires, such as--fire breaks

,more dams.regulations and control for public behaviour

alternative effeciant public transport to discourage the use of the internal conbustion engine

recicling wastes,limit water use
