Following surgery yesterday (hysteroscopy, D&C, endometrial ablation), I was prescribed Percocet.. It works well for pain but I get very nauseous and lightheaded. I also take Prozac 20 mg and levothyrox 175 mcg. I've read about drug interactions online and both are mentioned in drug side affects but no good explanation is given. Is Percocet contraindicated for patient's with hypothyroidism? And is using Prozac simutaneously with Percocet dangerous? Thanks, in advance for your time.

The nausea could be from two different things. First, and most unlikely, is the clearing of your anesthesia. Secondly, and more likely, is that you are having a side effect to the oxycodone. Oxycodone is known to cause nausea in persons who are not used to opiate medications. With continued therapy on this medication, the nausea will subside. You could try eating a light snack, such as bread or toast, before taking this medicine to lessen the chance of a reaction.
The Prozac and Levoxyl are neither one contraindicated with oxycodone therapy.

all three medications can be taken safely together. Nausea and lightheadedness are common and normal side effects of Percocet. I'd suggest having a little something or your stomach to help with the nausea and not standing up to abruptly or for too long for the lightheadedness.

Hope you feel better soon.

After I had Surgery they had to change me from Percocet to Darvocet. The percocoet made me sick too. very nausious and the Darvocet did not. Just call your dr, he can call in a new script for a different pain med.

not an interaction, just an adverse rxn to percocet. Get it changes to tylenol 3 or some such, or lortab.

Instead of getting an answer from someone here, you should call your local Pharmacy (even if they didn't fill the prescription) and the Pharmisist will give you CORRECT information. You may not get valid info from this site.
