Next week a very good friend will be 21. And I want to send her a card.
I would also like to send a present but feel it is inappropriate.
My reason for this is I am 18 yrs older than her.
Anyhow I have looked for a 21st birthday quotation but cannot find anything.
Can anyone suggest any good ones please.
And no seedy smarmy ones please as I am old enough to be her Dad!
Thank you

If you feel uncomfortable about buying her a present but feel that you would like to do something, why not go along to your nearest OXFAM shop and buy her something that will be sent to a third world country in her name, for instance- a goat or plant some trees, pay for schooling for children etc, etc.

A phrase I often use for friends birthdays of any ages is "Gather ye rosebuds whilst ye may, rhuematism may set in any day." It always gets a laugh-it's a play on words by Shakespeare. Another one is ..'have a drink on me' and stick a teabag on the card.

Why would it be unappropriate to send her a gift? It's not as if you are going to be sending her lace panties or anything naughty as such. You can send her a gift card for a good store and she can go buy her own birthday present. By sending a gift card, the birthday girl actually gets the present she wants! Clever eh! lol

As for a quote, I can't really thinkg of any. Just wish her a very heartfelt and wonderful birthday. May she eat lots of lovely cake and ice cream!!!! :-)

There is one about
It's your 21'st birthday, now you can do all the things you were already doing, but weren't supposed to be.

Or your 21, now everything you've already been doing is legal.

Some thing like that.

I'd get her a present. Its my birthday soon, and I'd be rather gutted if my older friends decided it wasn't appropriate to get me a present. I'm going to be 20, and my closest friends (all men) are 35, 42 and 49. Age isn't a barrier - if you want to get her a present, get her a present! I'm sure she will appreciate it!

Try http://www.hallmark.com
You can even purchase online and have them send it for you. They have a HUGE amount of paper and e-card to choose from. I've used them for years.
