Work boots with 'steel toe' feature has a metal shield in the toe area to protect the toes from injury. the shield is made from steel, but the shoe itself is made from leather and rubber.

Steel....hence the name steel toe...it's steel on the inside of the boot not the outside

i think they are made of steel as they say steel toe or if it is plastic then its false advertising!
