Charlie, Your Pontiac is still under factory warranty. Your dealer has the latest and greatest diagnostic equipment. They simply run a line to your coupler under the dash and your on board computers stored memory will reflect the code. Some GM Cars are so specific today codes pop up for items that are not connected to the internal or emissions systems. For Instance, my dad's Cadillac recently coded a broken motor mount. In your case it'll be a simple item because your car is new.

It means you probably have carbon buildup on your oxygen sensors that measure exhaust fumes that you put into the air. You might be able to solve that by treating your gas tank with hight octane boost the next time you fill up. Try your breather valve also on your valve cover.Best is to take it to a service station so they can hook it up to the computer for the actual fault. It is so hard to tell today due to the fact the more modern cars are computerized and some of the problems are leaking hoses that are connected to the sensors.

I second Country Boy's suggestion. Gosh, how many times have people been advised to go to Pep Boys for the free code read? Your car is under warranty, have the dealer set it straight!

Take it to your local Autozone and ask them to check the codes for you. This could give you some idea of what the problem is.
