I eat a balanced healthy diet, eating all the daily nutrients my body requires and exercise for 30 mins (cardio) at least a day and sometimes even do my joanna hall 28 day total body plan dvd for an extra 30 mins which is basically cardio with body toning. I lift light weights as well (dumbells) as I know muscle burns more calories than fat and increases metabolism. I do those elbow to knee crunches and have a slendertone flex belt. I am 5ft 6 and weigh 9st. waist is 29 inches and hips are 34 inches. As my hips are not that wide I want to slim my waist to get more of an hour glass figure. What else can I be doing on top of this? Sorry have waffled on for quite a bit now. Look forward to hearing your answers!

Ok, maybe 24 inches is a bit of an extreme desire, 26 inches would be good enough, just one of those people who underachieve if I aim for something, so aiming higher should give me a better result. Thanks for your answers so far!

You say you "want" a 24 inch waist. Why? I mean, is a 26 inch waist out of the question? (or a 27 for that matter).

You seem to be doing the right things to be healthy, which is much more important that wanting a certain waist. What I am trying to say, is do not get obsess with this. You are doing fine, and your measurements seem to be those of an attractive person.

After all that has been said, I am sure you still want a different answer.

Stick to your routines and healthy eating!
Do your cardio at least 3 times a week for at least 30 minutes.
Try a different exercise routine maybe you are adapted to what you do and a little change will make a difference: jogging, cycling, joining a gym to get a different set of exercise, pilates, anything you like to do to change your routine, that could do the trick.

I hope this works for you, but do not get to obsess with your waist measurements, they are only one indicator and nothing else.

Well, firstly you can try and be realistic. You have a body shape where you tend to store fat around the middle. But as it stands, 29 inches is not unhealthy and you can't change your body shape to be more hourglass, because when you lose weight off your waist, you will also lose it off your bust and hips too!

If you really want to slim down your waist slightly, maybe look at losing a couple of inches at most or you are going to end up looking too thin everywhere else and you will also end up being underweight, which is not healthy.

Take care : )

Nothing wrong with a 24" waist my sister is 25" however she is only about 4'10 (20yo) and since your 5'6, 24" does seem a bit extreme, Ignore the size zero commemts a 24" waist won't make you a fasion model since they typical have the same hip mesurments which is there biggest problem.
You desire an hourglass figure so maybe you could try to make your hips bigger becuase that will lessen the need for a smaller waist since 29 is nothing to be ashamed of

Can i just ask why you want this waist measurement? I watched a documentary about this size zero thingy the other day and some of these models have 23 inch waists.

I then measured my baby daughters waist - she has a 22 inch waist and is 4 months old - get a life and keep on your healthy diet/exercises or you will be as thin as a baby but die of stress!!!!

Think that if you lead a healthy life style and eat a good diet. 29 inches is good enough. To go further just endangers your health and is, in lots of normal peoples minds, is unattractive.
