Sorry my friend Your grandchild is mentally deficient and as such will never be cured. No amount of alternative medicine , conventional medicine, operations or mumbo jumbo will alter the fact.
The only thing you may get to know is why he is like that. This can be done by physical examination or a genetic testing. Sometimes when children are born the cord of the placenta may be around their neck and it cuts off oxygen to the brain. The child is left with brain damage and can neither walk or talk.
It may be in your interest to find specialized care for him in an institution that caters for this type of child. Before the parents think of having anymore children both of them should be tested to ensure that there is no genetic abnormalities between them

this is a natural defect, and there is no cure. but do be rest assured that this is not something out of the ordinary... many children suffer from this. Instead of approaching sadhu babas, u should approach NGOs. the child does not have to become a curse, his problems can become his strengths. such children usually grow up slower than others, but have a very good sense of art and a good taste for coulours and the like. there are special schools for such children (DO NOT EVER call them school for the mentally retarded). these are school for special children run by NGOs. they provide education in a way that can be easy for the child.
the national Trust for the Welfare for Persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation and multiple disabilities Act 1999 provides for a special trust to help such children and also give adivce to parents. Again, u should try to contact a NGO.
understand that the child is urs, and needs ur love moe than anything. and remember, if he isn't good at one thing, he's good at something else. give him support, and have faith in God

1. Start with speech problem.
Most children cannot speak because they cannot hear. Take him to Ear, Nose, Throat, doctor. Rule out deafness, if deaf, not too late to get corrected with implant(very advance kind) or a simple hearing aid.
2. If he is in good health other wise, massage his legs and get him a walker and put him in walker most of the time, do not carry him as far as possible. Child does not do any thing if the child is catered to. He must learn to walk, without that his brain will not function right, big mussels are important in stimulating the brain through increased blood flow to the brain.
3. Whole body MRI may show some thing, you have taken him to good institute but I do not see what they have checked so far and what causes they have eliminated.
4. Doctors should have given some indication, when they say he is delayed, does he points to things that he wants, when he does that ignore him make him shout, or cry, this way he will try to say some things.
***************************************
You wrote, "he recognises us Mummy-Papa" I do think he does not understand because he cannot hear. Make sure he can hear.
Can you make him laugh, does he gigle if tickled.
Cannot hear, cannot learn.
Take him to a good toy store at a time when store is not busy, put him in the noise maker toy section of the store explain the owner, owner will try defferent toys that make noise see if he takes intersest in them, buy one of them and then using the toy, work with him using the toy.

well seeing the symptoms this could be cerebral palsy or autism.
i'm afraid there is no cure but he could be helped. u could visit NIMHANS as suggested but u could try going to SSK [ spastic society of karnataka ] which is in bangalore, indra nagar.
my son is autistic and he cannot talk.we visited many places but he can only be helped. we have been to an ashram near bidadi called dhyana peetam. maybe the swamiji could help u.
good luck and be strong!

If you have enough money you can go to the US since they have good medical facilities or if you have some friends in the field you can ask them which is best.Coming to Chennai is also a choice.
Meanwhile your son should be tended with the utmost care and love. All the best to you and your son!

he doesn't have a disease per se but he does have a ceertain disability. that means, there's no cure 'casue he doesn't have a disease to be treated. you only have to manage your grandson through therapy. i mean, he can still be functioning with some assistive devices. try going to occupational therapists and language therapists.
and while you're at it, make it to a point to know, accept, and nderstand everything about your grandson's condition.

I understand your problem and anxiety. But uncle you have to face it.The Doctors must have suggested you something which you dont want to accept. When it comes to health we cant to anything but depend on medicine.
So though for me it is easy to write but you have to face the FACT boldly. You have not mentioned which city you are in.
