A neighbor of mine adopted a 1 year old female from an acquaintance about 3 weeks ago and was planning to get her spayed next week. The cat WAS allowed outside with the previous owners and is now an indoor only cat. When she rubs the cats belly, the cats nipples are pretruding and it was very noticable. Is this normal for an unspayed female or can this cat be pregnant?

She may be pregnant. Tell your friend to call the vet before getting her spayed and let them know she thinks the cat may be pregnant. I'm sure the vet will check before he spays her.

Looks like you tricked into adopting a pregnant cat. Take her to a vet now to get her spayed before it is to late.
Your neighbor did this cat a great favor and I am so glad to hear that she now has a responsible guardian.
Good luck with the new kitty!

My cat is also unspayed... she's allergic to anesthesia, I found out when taking her to get spayed so did not get her spayed and I have noticed that her nipples do seem to protrude under her fur, I also feel them when I'm petting her belly.

I think your neighbor got stuck with a pregnant cat ...and that's why the "acquaintance" gave it to her. Some friend!
However, if she goes to get it spayed, the vet will be able to tell it's pregnant...and I believe they will spay it anyway and abort the kittens.

It is normal for an unspayed cat to have bigger nipples.
