Religious wars have been going on even today and this is the biggest cause of terrorism. Why can't youth of the world denounce their religion and promote humanism as the universal religion. This may solve the many problems faced by the world.

What you say is right but religion is just one of the factors.I think the main reason behind terrorism is youth getting misguided due to unemployment. That is what has to be checked. We should not ignore whats happening around us.Afterall terrorist materialise their acts staying in societies like us only.

I agree on Humanism being a nice set of "rules", but it's no replacement for religion or spirituality. Humanism doesn't speak of the existence of any god, but it speaks of freedom of religion. Though, for some not-religious or "enlightened" people, humanism may be a replacement for the moral rules that are dictated by religious doctrines, I think that moral is partially a genetic thing (many animals have much higher moral than humans), and partially "implanted" by how you're brought up by your parents and the environment.
But about your initial question if religion kills, I can only ask you if the gun is the killer, or the guy pulling the trigger?
I'm an atheist, and I'd rather see any religion disappear from the face of the earth completely, but i still think that most religions are ultimately striving to the ultimate state of peace. It's a fact that some of the worlds religions are claiming the ultimate truth and have the obligation "to spread the word" built within their indisputable doctrine, that makes them an instrument for violence, but it's still people that stir up the big masses to go to war or to torture or kill people who do not comply to the locally accepted doctrine.
Furthermore, religion can be used as an instrument for secular reasons to go to war, but still it's used many times to get the masses noses in one direction. One piece of proof is the rise of extremist christianity and islam since 9/11, and the way politicians and other warlords use "their" religion to gain support.
Also many wars have been fought for non-religious reasons btw. Though many christians claim different, Hitler was a christian, not an atheist. I don't think he did believe the bible literally, but he did use religion, amongst other methods, to smear the Jews. The Germans were told the Jews, in the shape of Judas, handed over Christ, so all Jews were traitors by nature, thus had to be killed.

The Persians,Greeks, Romans, Mongols, did not wage war over religion, The hundred years war, Napoleon, WWI and WWII had nothing to do with religion. Stalin, Pol Pot, Mao, Ho Chi Mien, Kim Jon all have forbidden any religion and killed millions. Wars have been waged over religion, there is no disputing that, The Crusades, and today's Middle East wars. The majority of war on this planet have been waged for power, finance and control. Period
As for Dellow, I can make a substantial case to the opposite of his statement. Atheism coupled with evolution can also promote a complete removal of morals at all in humanity

Athiests have already done this, and still have as many funerals as religious warriors. Atheism is not so much the denouncement of a God, but more of a statement that the awful lawful God promoted by some, and the contradictory Gods presented by many religious folk, have become unbelieveable. I find they still seek, and often have more Bible knowledge than religious folk.

The Bible speaks of two sorts of religion: impure and pure. Pure religion (James 1:27) notably paid a come and go "visit", not a ransom. It also notably arrived undefiled and remained unspotted.

The evidence does not lie, nor take sides. All sides wars have side effects to both sides of a law law blame game. His Grace is above such law vs law of them vs them who oppose themselves.

Doing the will of God notably precedes receiving the promise in Hebrews 10, which also reveals what go figure what "I will have mercy, and not sacrifice" meaneth. It meaneth I will have grace and not law, which is to allegory say I will have life and not death.

The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

Nope. Your facts are wrong. Humanistic Philosophies have killed more people that all of the religious wars combined. Several different university studies have shown that. Communism in the old Soviet Union and China are responsible for over 200 million just by themselves. And thats not counting Hitler (who believed in Nietches Philosophy-Man and Superman.) So you can add in all of the deaths caused by WWII. also. Plus too many others to count. Thats the trouble with you humanists, you never bother to check facts. You folks just go on and keep spouting the same old misinformation until the average person does'nt bother to question it. Shades of "1984". Just say somethink enough times....etc,etc.---theBerean

Friend, Only the spirit of satan will talk like this, telling people to put away religion, You don't realize there is a difference between Religion & salvation, Now do you want to know why the world is in this shape, Because satan is running wild, because he knows that his time is very short & he knows that God will cast him into the lake of fire. And another reason why there is wars, Because many people have already put God out of their religion.

Well, if you're going to argue that, then the only cause for war is mankind's own violent, evil, stupid, and impatient nature. However, it is true that religion is a topic that gets many people to feel very heated and defensive, bringing out our natural violent urges. So, yes, according to history, religion is a MOTIVE for people to start wars.

I don't know that that is true. But the reason some people can't denounce their religion is because they are libel to be beheaded or stoned to death, Also there are a lot of fanatics that would rather die first and take as many people with them as possible in the process. People will always find a reason to slaughter each other whether it's religion or something else.

Religion, by itself, is not the cause of wars.

Wars are complex social/economic/political events. Religion might be a contributing factor for these events, but it is never the single cause.

Additionally, there is no history of a humanist nation of peace to look to for proof that such a faith would sreat a world that is any more peaceful than the one we live in now.

Religious intolerance is only one of a number of false prides, like racism, sexism, and nationalism. Which the Power Hungry use to keep the masses stirred up. And while the masses beat each other in the head, the Power Hungry sit back and eat and drink, and make witty comments!
