I think everyone needs to see a psychiatrist. Anxiety is normal don't everyone has it to some degree. If it is messing up your sleep then you might need to see someone. A psychiatrist is not going to be able to fix it for you only you can do that. If you know the source of your anxiety then spend some time trying to figure out a solution to your problem. And going to see a psychiatrist is still not a bad thing. There is nothing wrong with it. I go every now and then because I have good insurance and most of the people around me are really crazy. If you can't afford a good shrink you can pop into a good church and they usually have counselors available for free. PBWY

Michel, I know exactly what you are going through and it is the most unbelievable experience you could ever have. Severe depression and the possibility of the presence of an anxiety disorder can cause you to become very irregular in your daily activities. I used to wake up at 12am and brew tea, do my laundry, watch television, read books etc. and then go to sleep at 10am. I would then sleep through the whole day at wake up at 11pm again. My day would become everyone else's night! I went through this for about 2 months until I realised that what I was doing was not healthy. I went to see a psychologist, and subsequently a psychiatrist. These people can help you. Once you get your life back, the days won't seem to go by so quickly. You will actually have some time to do normal things.
All the best.

If these feelings of anxiety really are the reason that you can't sleep, that's not an uncommon problem for a psychiatrist or even a psychologist to face. I would see a counselor or other psychologist before I went to a psychiatrist to see if seeing the psychiatrist was necessary. (The difference is that psychologists will talk through problems and figure out what conditions you may or may not have, while psychiatrists usually deal exclusively with medications. A psychologist can refer you to a psychiatrist if he or she feels that medication is necessary.)

I can relate to your sleeplessness. When I couldn't sleep at night, I went to a psychiatrist. Although I've been on many different meds to try to help my depression, anxiety, irritability, I have to say the only medicine he ever gave me that really helps is sleeping pills. Atleast with that, my insomnia could stop. Meds are so complicated for each person, it's hard to find what is right. I know it has been for me. But if you can sleep at night and start to focus on your day ahead of you, you'll feel a lot better! Good Luck!

I don't think you need a Psychiatrist now. You have disturbed biological clock. What you do, take some pain and keep awake until you feel sleepy at night & than only go to sleep. Do it two three times, your sleep time will become normal. Let me tell you Insomnia is also not your problem. Please Please don't try this medication first. Take Melatonin at bed time it is not a drug but a food supplement to make your biological clock if it has changed like you or in case of Jet Lag. Please do first what I wrote first, this will boost you confidence & self beleief.

Maybe seeing a councillor would help, or hypnotherapy. You don't necessarily need to see a psychiatrist

See a psyciatrist. A change in routine, some work and some meds should get you up and running again.
