i asked q about Mutta. all of the respondends said it was allowed at the beginning of islam. so it must have been practiced by the early great people. doesn;t it show a tradition? second,I want to be clear whether it was banned in life time of the profit or afterwards? if in the life , then plz, refer me the verses.

There was and is no such thing in Islam. The only thing we can find from the history of Islam is that only those were allowed who went to war and stayed quite long time from their home with out their wives. But in general it was and is not allowed in Islam.
Also please keep in mind that its not short dating it was a complete marriage procedure but divorce was given if wife wants when they want to leave that area.
It was also the part of some sect with in Shai Muslim. Also note not all Shia Muslim practice or believe in this mutta. And now no where in the world this in practice.

It was practiced in the beginning of Islam and before..it was not a tradition just a common thing..
It was banned in the life time of Mohammed (PBUH) I have the verse in Arabic ( unfortunately).. now in Shiites it is allowed but not in Sunnies sects..
