Really depends on what president you mean... the current President of the United States is basically a fundamentalist christian who actually believes god speaks to him.

In the US very few presidents have actually been atheists: Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, James Madison, John Adams, William Taft, and I think one or two others.
