before jesus came down Judaism was the way to god....
in the Jewish faith they believed (or believe) that one day a savior would come....
Jesus came and (according to the bible) claimed that HE was the savior that the Jews were waiting for.
some people believed him... some didn't. those who didn't still continue to be Jews... and those who did believe him, followed Jesus and became Christans.

yes because when he was born, there was no christianity. He created it when he sent the disiples out to spread the love of God.
