Creationists tend to sit there with their fingers in their ears when you try to talk to them.
There is nothing more clear than evolution. But there are stumbling blocks which seem insurmountable.
You, for instance, suggest that creationists will understand more, if atheists become more educated.
Why?
Shouldn't you be suggesting that creationists learn more science?
Is it the fault of atheists that creationists do not accept real, tangible, irrefutable evidence, from many areas of science?
Also, you seem to assume that to refute creation requires an atheist. Go to the official Catholic website and you will find that evolution is accepted by the Catholic church, as is the Big Bang, and the Earth orbiting the Sun.

Why do you think only atheists need to present information about science to creationists and why do you think that science has anything to do with changing the beliefs of creationists. That is almost as unlikely as pointing out all the contradictions and alternate stories in the "inerrant" Bible and all the strange interpretations. Was the 7 days of creation 7 24 hour days or the first 6 days each 1,000 years long?

It would be great to be better informed about science but creationists don't seem to want science explained to them clearly... however they really do need the basics of the scientific approach explained simply so they can understand what science actually is and what it is not and to appreciate just how rigorous it really is.

I avoid all debate with Creationists. In fact, I steer clear of all religious dialogue. I have to ask though. Why do you feel we need to? Is your belief not rooted firmly in blind faith, and what you know to be true in your heart? Do I ask you if you feel you should learn more about manure in order to present Creationism more clearly? Hehehe. My apologies, I was mature and cordial up until that last part. Sorry about that. Oh well, you shall see me in hell, and I shall not see you in eternal nothingness.

I am not an Atheist, and I sort of resent the vague generalization. Many folks who don't believe in the Christian fairy tale are also not Atheists. Now, to answer your question.
Not really. I mean what's the point? The basic tenant of religion is that "WE" are right, everyone else is wrong. Religious people don't try to converse, they try to convert. They are convinced that they have the "Truth" and must save us poor misguided folk who choose to think. You can share all the info you like with them but they aren't listening - they are trying to remember the bible verse that refutes what you are saying.
Besides, who am I to dissuade folks from believing in Fairy Tales?

It matters not how advanced your understanding and knowledge of science are, when it comes to this forum. I'm OK with the basics, but there are several people here who are familiar with and understand advanced sciences (I check some of this stuff with my daughter when she'll humor me - she's a physics major) yet are dismissed by believers as easily as my silly questions are. Christianity is a poison.

Everybody show learn more about science, then perhaps we would not have to waste so much time trying to correct all the misconceptions.
In fact, all of us should be trying to learn every single day.
