People are increasingly selfish and unaware or uncaring about the impact of their behaviours on others. I just think most people don't care.

Well I used to get so fed up at carts left in my old neighborhood I would haul them back to the store myself!
There are many reasons why people don't take them to the return. 1) they are elderly and just don't have the energy to take them there, 2) they had a toddler in the cart, and if they put the baby in the car they aren't going to leave them alone in the car or even if they give the baby a ride back to the return they would have to carry the baby back to the car so that would be difficult if the child was heavy, 3)its raining/cold and they don't want to be out there longer than they have too..
I agree with the garbage. I never could understand why there was garbage in the cart. It's like they don't want the dirty diaper in their car, and can't walk a few steps to a garbage can in the lot, so it goes into the cart to bring germs to everyone else? just selfish people do something like that! ewww!!

Why don't people pickup a cart in the parking lot and take it inside with them, as I do. That would put you out of a job.
Why don't grocery stores hire people to push the carts to the car and bring them back immediately?
Among the more valid reasons are: the nearest station is too far away to walk to and leave the kids in the car or to stumble to with my bad legs. The station is visibly full (not picked up yet by you) and if I take my cart there, it will be out in the driveway or in a parking space, just as if I leave it here.
The really rude ones leave the cart in the middle of a handicapped parking space where the legal user can't easily get out of the car to move it and leave it behind another car to be backed into.

It irritates me too. After spending all that time, schlepping through the store, going aisle to aisle, do they suddenly have an attack of fatigue? Unable to muster enough energy to take the cart to the cart return? Even if they are parked right next to it??? Did they run out of "time" in their busy schedule? Maybe they are "timing" their trip as to keep on schedule, buzzer goes off, "oops, out of time! I'll just leave this here..." And I'm sure they'd be the first ones to march into the store, demanding the store pay for damage to their car if a runaway cart hit them.
I put my cart where it belongs when I'm done and if I'm going in to the store, I'll take an abandoned cart with me.
And I doubt too many people would be out of a job if everyone put their carts away, maybe it would mean the store could have more checkout lanes open if they didn't have to be sending someone out to retrieve carts!

They think all their little reasons are more important than common courtesy. Either they're in a hurry, or it's raining, or it's cold, or it's hot, or they've got kids along, or the kids are at home and the babysitter's waiting for them, or they just forget... I don't care if it's wet or cold and if I'm late that's my fault for not going to the store earlier, that doesn't mean I can leave my shopping cart out. I always return mine. They're paid now, you have to insert a coin to get them and you get it back when you attach them to another cart, so most people return them now, but before that was put in I'd often take a few others in on my way back to the store.

Some people are selfish and inconsiderate. But, others have difficulty with them. I envy wives in the old western movies who have everything carried for them by a man. Heavy groceries, children, hillside car parks, are all things that make it difficult. Don't let it get to you, focus on being the best cart pusher around and look out for a promotion to a more fun job. Best wishes.

Well, if everyone put them away, you would be out of a job!
I usually put them away, and feel guilty if I don't. Reasons why I might not put them away are if I'm in a hurry and my kids are in the car, or if they are in the car by themselves. I'm not leaving them unattended so I can put the cart away. You never know who might walk up and take them - it's happened before!
If I'm by myself I'll put them away. But sometimes you go to these stupid stores that have no cart returns or very few spaced very far apart in the parking lot. Make it more convenient for people and I bet more people will use them.

maybe they figure that they have to get somewhere. maybe they also think they are giving the cart pusher a job, so why walk to the cart return station.
one reason i sometimes dont return mine is when i walk in the parking lot, i am afraid a car might back into me. this happens all the time to me. cars back out and i almost get hit. and it scares me, so sometimes i have left my cart away from the cart return station.
i do not however leave trash in the cart. i have wondered why they do that too as the cart pushers at my grocery stores never remove the trash. so often the carts have snot rags in them. it is really gross.
it is very interesting to hear your perspective. im going to return my cart from now on! :)

I have no clue other than pure rudeness. I pulled into the store's parking lot this morning and there was a cart blocking my favorite spot (it's always empty since it's early) which is right next to the cart park!! Normally I don't mind walking, but it was raining!
Pure inconsideration.

i imagine how you are able to honor Sr. may be to placed his volume back on the music. i imagine it should be maximum installation if it became yet another Earnhardt, yet regardless it should be cool. as well it being an outstanding tribute, he wasn't the first to emphasise the #3. The #28 remains raced, the #40 2 remains raced, the #40 5 remains raced, albeit by technique of yet another Petty. i imagine Richard Childress will allow his grandson use it in cup even as he receives to that element. possibly by technique of then quite everyone will be able to settle for it, because there are going to be alot of old college not uncomplicated center Sr. followers that are going to be pissed.

Most people are LAZY, DON'T CARE, & IRRESPONSIBLE. They don't want to have to face up to responsibility. They also figure that someone else will get it. It just shows a lack of manners, morals, and responsibility. People tend to think that THEY are owed something in this world. No wonder we are in such a sorry state.
