My male cat is now I think about a year now. He is meowing almost all the time. He seems very healthy. I have another cat who is like 6 years (human) old and doesn't get along with him very well she is a female (fixed yes). They don't really fight physically but his and swat a bit. He is not fixed and I am wondering is this just him going into heat or what. I have two litter boxes for them and seperated bowls for food. Also have a gemale dog in the house and at first they didn;'t get along but now he likes the dog (who is female too) Both cats play just not together. Also at night he has a tendancy to bite (more like nibble) on my arm, wrist and hand then lye down on it. Anyway hope all this helps and someone can help. THANKS ALL

Tom cats do not go into heat! However Tom cats do respond to females which are in heat. Your male cat can probably smell/taste femals in the area which are in heat and he is going all hormonal because of it, he's being given the come on and is frustrated!

He sounds happy enough as he is playing and nibbling on your arm isn't anything to worry about, mine does exactly the same thing. Its good that you have two litter boxes and bowls of food, don't worry if the two cats don't play together, they just like thier own company. You sound like a good owner to me.

Take him to the vet to a) check this is what it is and he's not sick or anything and b) have him done. He'll be a lot happier after the operation.

Good luck.

My cat Jemima used to try this and that i could no longer understand why till sooner or later she jumped on the sink and commenced eating the water from the faucet. After that I knew that when she meowed on the showering room door or on the kitchen sink she needed a drink of clean water, no longer the stuff in her bowl. This behaviour is often a demonstration of lack of self assurance with the cat in case you shut the door and close her out - you recognize how curios cats are, they desire to be certain what you're doing!

I can only second all those people who have told you to get the male neutered. Entire toms will spray - and tomcat pee has an aroma like nothing else. They will go out in search of lurve, sometimes wandering miles, with all the attendant dangers of cars and people who take a dim view of cats being on their property. And they'll fight with other cats over a female, with the resultant injuries and vet bills.

He's trying to assert dominance over your female cat - and I have heard of entire toms trying to mate with neutered females.

So, go for the kindest cut of all.

The reason your male cat is miowing is because he's desperate to find a lady! He will always do this unless you get him 'done'.

Another problem is that you may lose him if you don't. Male cats will wander for miles in search of partners and often don't return home. Once he is 'done' you'll find that he'll still miow for a couple of weeks then everything will settle down and you'll have a much more content cat.

Hope that helps.

Male cats don't go into 'heat'. That's something that female cats do.
But male cats do tend to want to go 'courting' during the early spring months. They can smell when other female cats are in heat and want to go outside and spread their seed.

Answer: get him fixed. Then he won't wander off so much when he's fixed too.

You need to have him neutered soon. He wants a mate,if he can't find 1 he will go wandering looking for 1 and you may not see him for months or he may not come back at all.

So keep him in till he's been neutered and recovered from the op.

Sounds like you will have to "de-nut" him, or his behaviour will deteriorate, and nothing smells as bad as a spraying randy tom cat. It just lingers for a long time.
So my recommendation is to take him to the vet to get his mojo removed. Then after a few weeks, he'll quieten down and stop biting.

OK so he wants to lady friend. The meowing wont stop till he gets a lady or he has been snipped. So the best thing to do is take him to the vet and put him out of his and your misery. Keep him indoors after. Good luck

my cat is male and has been neutered. we feed our neighbours two spayed female cats who live in our back yard, and nazy quite often sits by the patio window singing to them. male cats are more vocal that females and tend to get a bit frisky in the evenings. he's just being affectionate when he nibbles you and its his way of showing you love when you play. he lies on you because you're his. he's still a young cat and just finding his feet in the world. enjoy it!
