Why does it look like they are PRAYING? Are they just scared and curling up makes them feel better? Have people become intelligent gerbils?

That's just typical rat behaviour. Maybe they know it makes them look cute. No we are not intelligent gerbils. We are a completely different species called Humans.

People become intellectual gerbils when they stop questioning. I probably question my faith in God more than most science students question the science of evolution. Even though there is an awful lot about evolution that needs questioned, and has been by many leading scientists around the world. Many just take it at face value, which makes it a belief in itself, more than a science.
Plus, maybe the rats know something that a lot of humans do not.

I like your use of the word 'intelligent'. That is much more than can be said for many humans.
But no, the evolutionary jump is too far : from rats to humans? If valid transitional forms cannot be found for simple evolution from apelike ancestors to modern man (though evolutionists would have us think otherwise), it would be much more difficult to substantiate this hypothesis.

We are mischievous rats, in a sense. Pondering our sinful tendencies, we cower in repentance. But scared and unintelligent, we are not - our wisdom drawn from God's Word, affirmed through archeology, and verified by certified ancient scrolls and experts in every field simply proves the theory that His truth has been revealed and it's called ......grace.
We bow in humble gratitude for the cost he willingly paid.
Through his eyes we are in His image - precious and priceless.
