You need to make it a big deal as she will be telling all her friends and they will be trying to out do the other..First of all are you sure she will say yes? Does she like quiet secrets. Get on you knee and ask her when you are alone in a place where she enjoys. You need to pick the right place and the right time. You can tell her stories you heard about some guy did_______this what does she think. Slide it in to conversation ask her friends if any guy has asked them and what did your girl friend say. If you are sure she will say yes so you do not get embarrassed get on your knee or stand on something and let the whole world know. Do it in a public place. I the last time sent flowers in to her work and asked her Dad that night in front of all our friends If I could marry her. He was much older then his daughter and that was the way you did it in his day. Why would you ask her to marry you when you do not know her yet? If you really knew her you would not be asking others that have never met her.. Never forget those special days to give her cards and make a big deal out of it. Tell her every day how much you love her. Always find some thing nice to say about her to her and her friends. Tell her friends how lucky you are to have her for your wife and to have them as your friends. Good luck and have a long marriage.

2. an engagement ring
3. a sweet thoughtful meaningful place to take her

well, take your time. proposing isn't something you rush. Make it special, so the woman knows she's taken care of. You'll be fine; just be confident.
