Your friend must be ignorant of what Masons are, their beliefs and their missions Masons invest much of their time and money, both as a society and as individuals, in their community. Their contributions may go un-noticed by most, but are extremely valuable nonetheless. The secrecy within which they operate, has often given them an undeserved sinister reputation. Masons are an ancient society, some evidence exists that a form of the modern society was active as long ago as three millenia. Their meetings are steeped in ritual, from handshakes to clothing, the manner of their greetings and the words spoken, are all written into Law, and there is no deviation from the Law. To become a Mason, one needs to be a successful professional. One must usually be university educated, having a degree in one of the following: Law, Sciences, Medicines or Architecture. Some exceptions are made to this, although what the criteria may happen to be to allow admittance to the society, would probably depend on the individual themselves. The identities of individual members is a closely guarded secret, and as far as I know, there are no female members. Masons also have a rigid system of hierarchy, denoted in levels of promotion, which run from level one on up. I have neither heard nor read of anything devilish that the Masons as a society can be accused of, since their purpose is to build and educate, rather than tempt and destroy. Masons have to be hard working and involved in their communities, whether that be politically, educationally or in other pursuits, as dictated to them by more superior Masons. So you can tell your friend that the Masons are not of the devil, but are a secretive group that wishes to help society at large without the fuss of gratitude.

All the Mormons I know are quite pleasant people, all the Freemasons I know are old men who play cards and have secret handshakes, while raising money for charities etc. Neither group seem particularly evil. Perhaps they just don't understand each other.

For one reason or another, the Masons have threatened not only the Mor(m)ons, but the Catholics and the Nazis. What can we understand about the nature of those three groups by the fear they all have of the Masons?
