I know a woman who is very independent and very strong- yet she laments that her boyfriend has not yet proposed marriage. I asked her why she doesn't propose to him- but she told me 'it doesnt work that way. Why not? Shouldn't a woman be able to be the one to propose marriage?

Sorta based on the classic believe that man should be the one to claim a bride. Like in the past when brides were means of wealth and babymakers.

Personally, I dont mind it either way. Done it both ways and neither seems more or less bad. No I didnt marry either girl eventually but the propsals were good.

it has been done, but if i were to have proposed to my current fiance, it would have felt like like i was taking away his position... so i waited a year and a half after i was ready for him to give me this fabulous ring... plus it's more romantic when a guy does it.. the girl gets all gushy and warm feeling.
