i have a NetGear Wireless router, and i used to have an Anti-Virus program which had a Network monitor that popped up a notification whenever a computer connected to my wireless network, from their i could allow or deny access....Does anyone know any application that does something similar????I know you can do it by logging into the router and doing stuff through there....but i would rather use an Application that can just block access.....Thanks In Advance for all the replies....

Netgear explains it in the little tiny booklet you threw away.
Lucky for you, that it is on their website!

They have WEP, WPA, both of which can be cracked in about ten minutes, by any determined 12 year old kid. And you can name the thing, then turn off SSID, so no one gets instant access.

Plus, you could invoke MAC addressing for ONLY your system NICs. But, they can be spoofed, too. Wifi is so easy to crack, hope you run it behind a firewall! http://ipcop.org works for me.

No......In domicile routers are designed for in domicile, no longer a block away. you're waiting to achieve a million or 2 houses down, besides the undeniable fact that signal power is degraded. you even ought to address variables like walls, homes, and potential line interference.

in our linksys wireless router - it had the program inside to allow
us to set the password and protocols - or whatever - to only allow our wireless PC and laptop access, although we have the range to 'feed' six of our neighbors
