melatonin is the best thing since counting sheep. you can buy it over the counter in 3mg tablets. its cheap and it doesnt make me feel drowsy or drugged when i wake up.

Too many rely on medication to solve all their problems. Try some lifestyle changes. If you aren't sleeping it's most likely due to some pent up energy that needs to be burned off....physically or mentally. Try reading an hour before bed time, or try starting a workout program (usually mornings are a good time to exercise and get you ready for the day). Also take a look at your diet and see if some healthier choices can be made. Regardless of what shape you are in, when you take better care of yourself, yourself will say thank you. Start a moderate exercise program 3-5 days a week for an hour a day, read an hour before going to sleep (something good, like a novel or book works best for me) and mix up your diet with a variety of foods, and in a month, you'll be sleeping better without expensive Rxs or dependancies developing.

I have trouble sleeping as well. My best friend has noticed that it gets worse when I drink coffee more. I'm always afraid to take anything because I don't want to oversleep in the morning. You should go to a health store that sells vitamins and see about taking something more natural than using those over the counter sleep aids.

My doctor has me taking sublingual melatonin for insomnia. It is the natural substance in the brain that makes you sleepy. And it works.
I think you can get it at the health food store. It goes under your tongue when u get into bed.

There are some precautions tho and that is never take it unless u will be in bed for 6-8 hours as sunlight after taking it can damage your eyes.

I have several remedies that I have developed over the years, as I have suffered like you.

1,. Deep breathing
2. Glass of orange juice
3. Eyes exercises. Close eyes and look upward 3 x

You can do all or everyone of them.

use sleeping pills as a last resort. Have u tried natural remedies? Councelling?

Try taking it easy for a couple hours prior to going to bed. Avoid coffee/caffine from mid afternoon.

daytime exercise is the best prescription....get tired, you will sleep.
try to avoid coffee after 3.00PM.
a glass of wine before the evening meal may help.
