As a Feng Shui interior design student and Interior decorator I will recommand you to look for Feng Shui class for beginners in your area. I took myself Feng Shui interior design course with the Sheffield School which is a long distance learning program, it gives you the opportunity to learn the basics Feng Shui principles.
Feng Shui is the acupuncture of the space and It creates a peaceful mind and interior when applied.
The 1st thing to do is to de-clutter your space, less is more in Feng Shui. I suggest you read "the western guide to Feng Shui" by Terah Kathryn Collins, it's a great book for introduction and read my website, I write articles about Feng Shui and Interior design.

I think a lot of feng shui works because it's common sense. Put a lid on the trash can (feng shui explanation: all your luckiness will go in there and get thrown out; real life explanation: trash often stinks, and it should be lidded). You should sweep from the corners of the room to the center, and always sweep into a dustpan instead sweeping right out the door (little stuff may get swept up and out the door -- like a lost earring. this way gives you a second chance to make sure you aren't throwing away valuables). There are tons of things like this.
I think the most important feng shui tip for beginners is: clear your clutter. Life is so much easier and happier if you aren't searching for your car keys, important paper work, blah, blah, blah. And it makes cleaning easier, so there will be less dust in the air, and you will be healthier for it.
I really liked Karen Kingston's clutter-clearing book, and I think it's a great start for any beginner. Here's one of her websites -- she's got others, so you can search for her if you like this one.
