I started this rumor a few years ago. I've either convinced some people or someone else noticed it, too.

The Hebrew alphabet is used for both letters and numbers (the number 1 is the letter aleph, the number 2 is the letter bet, the number 3 is the letter gimel, 4 is dalet, 5 is hay, and 6 is the letter vav.

The letter "vav" (v in English) has two different pronunciations, depending on which dialect of Hebrew you speak. It can be a "vav" (v) or a "waw" (w).

So if you abbreviate the "world wide web" in Hebrew, you get www, or the number 666.

(The main problem with this interpretation is that Hebrew numbers usually have an apostrophy in them to indicate that you're reading a number instead of a word.)

By the way, this is the first time I've ever been called a "conspiracy theorist", but in this case I'll take the title. This is really wacky stuff. Whenever you're dealing with the number of the beast, that's what you're getting into.

I saw some research a couple of days ago that proposed that the number is not 666, buy 616 and referred to caligula. Consequently this looking for the devils number is, as expected, a whole load of cr@p

666 refers to Nero, a Ceaser in Rome just after Jesus's death. This number is an addition of Nero's name.. let me explain.

A = 1
B = 2
C = 3
D.....

Early Jews used a similar system to write in code that only they could decipher. The name Ceasar Nero, when used in this ancient code, adds up to 666.

666 in bar codes is because Satan is the major stockholder of Wal Mart and is trying to get your soul with a helpful smile in every isle. :)
