They're actually not hurting your teeth -- your teeth are made of enamel and bone, and they have no nerves. It's actually in your gums. The retainer is preventing your teeth from moving in the direction they want to. It's a battle between them and the retainer, and it's affecting the nerves in your gums.

Retainers are meant to keep your teeth in place after you have had your braces removed.
Trust me, I am speaknig from experience.
When you get your braces off, your teeth will reverse back into the same way unless you keep your retainer in.
They are hurting because your teeth have already started moving back.
Do what your dentist asks & keep wearing the retainer.

Because your teeth have already begun to shift in that week. Thats the reason for the retainer, to prevent your teeth from shifting. Try to wear it more often. My teeth went back to a mess because I didn't wear my retainer.

You need to wear them as much as you can. You would be surprised how much your teeth will move if you dont wear them. My son stopped wearing his and his teeth went a little croocked again.

They hurt because its moving your teeth. But don't worry. The pain will soon go away.

They wouldn't call it a crush if it didn't hurt.

Maybe they are too tight? Talk to your orthodondist.
