Depends where you live.
Fairly high if you live by a very busy road so you shouldn't keep a cat if you do.
I live in a place with light traffic and no cat in our neighbourhood has ever been knocked down.
I do the following to try and lessen the risk of loosing my girl to a car:
1. I've had her spayed so she won't go looking for a mate.
2. I bring her in when it gets dark and lock the cat-flap.
3.She wears a reflective collar.
4. Have pet insurance for her(and all my other pets it's possible to insure) in case of an accident and big vet bills.

The chances are high if the following apply:
You are leaving your cat out at night
Your cat doesn't have a reflective collar
You live near to busy, fast roads
The cat has to cross a road to get to a field type place (where they'll go for mice)
If your cat is a Tom - as they wander more.
Keep your cat inside at night. Put a reflective collar on him so he'll be seen in car headlights. Microchip your cat too, if he goes missing or is hit you stand a chance of getting him back.
I've had two cats run over, they both were hit during the night and were found dead the next morning. Keep them in at night.

It matters how near to a road you live and whether that road is busy with fast moving traffic.
Obviously, if you live in an isolated location with no roads near to your property the chances of your cat being run over are slim. However, if you live at the other extreme of the spectrum with a main, busy road running right past your house, then it is highly likely that your cat will eventually be run over.
Unfortunately, I live in a farmhouse in Kent, England which is next to a main road and in the 23 years that we have lived here we have lost 6 cats to traffic accidents.

The chance of a pet cat who is kept outside obviously depends on the cat, but if your cat tends to stray away from your house then it would be an 75% chance which is very high.
I would advice to teach your cat to just stay within a certain boundry. That should help if your worried about it.

It depends on where he lives. If roads around are busy, obviously - bigger chance. Also it depends on that cat's luck. A lot. I know some cats that lived very long on a very busy road. Keeping your cat indoors is cruel, it's a freedom - loving animal.! If you live on a busy road, don't get one, have a dog instead!

depends on the cat, where your nearest busy road is, and who's driving on it ! it takes several factors to all come together before u get a squished moggy. not trying to be nasty - i once had a cat that got hurt badly by a car, it's a worrying time. after he died, i stuck to getting 'house cats' from rescue shelters - ie, i checked on their backgrounds, and adopted a cat(s) who were happy to be in the house & garden, and who didn't want to roam the streets all night.

Usually, that's too long for me. I believe it depends on the guy and also his face though. Certain guys may pull off long hair and others can't.
