I am an international student in the USA. I just finished my master degree in New jersey and came to California for Phd Degree. I came to California 1 month ago. I learned that according to Califonia laws i have get California Driving License in 10 days after reaching California. (I have a New Jersey Driving License valid through 2008).

Turn in your NJ license & pass the written exam. There are student exemptions to this however, so you need to check with the CA DMV.
