Not all churches are like the mega ones you hear about in the papers or see on t.v .My church can barely afford to pay for rent of the building.

I don't know any statistics so I can't give any numbers, but I think the answer probably depends on one's definition of poor and rich. If we're talking monetarily, I think there are Christians and churches all over the spectrum. If we're talking spiritually, emotionally, mentally, etc...well, they're all over the spectrum too!

no, we are the righteousness of God why would he want his people and churches poor, it's the people that don't understand Gods word and take one verse and make a whole doctrine on it that has caused some churches and the people that follower the teaching of these churches that keep the people and their children and generations to follow to live in perpetual poverty..when they aren't suppose to, but can't break the bonds of the past, and don't realize they don't have to live as they have, they just need to be shown that it can be done, and God wants good things for them.I't part of their inheritance from Abraham and his covenant with God.

Some of the Diocese are almost bankrupt due to the high cost of legal fees and punitive damages that were awarded to the victims of pedophile priests. Since the number of victims coming forward is increasing the cost are skyrocketing so keep the donation flowing in, your cash is needed. After all, it's your church and your choice.

I don't see how the churches are poor... they all get money from the people who attend them and are also tax exempt in the USA...

The evangelicals on their god slots on television seem to be getting quite rich. But then, it's not surprising when they are always begging their congregation to send in their hard earned cash so they get a little closer to poverty. They're just parasites living off the blind faith of their followers.

Some are, some aren't. Depends entirely on the denomination and the location.
