maybe just seperate your self from the situation tell him you cant take the stress its not good for either of you and if he has been suicidal for 9 months and hasnt attempted suicide then he is probably using this to keep you in his life in some sick way, i had an ex who used to threaten it all the time and i would get all worked up and stresses out but then i realized that me being in the situation was making it more difficult and when we split for good and lost contact he went on with his life and hasnt ever attempted suicide and isnt even really depressed anymore.

Situations like this are very difficult, but unfortunately they happen often. All suicide threats should be taken seriously, and reported, so you have done the right thing. Since his parents won't listen, maybe you should try to find another trusted adult to tell. The guidance counselors at school could probably talk to him. If you tell the guidance counselors at school, since his parents won't listen, they might be able to bring him in and talk to him, but the only way he could get a psychological evaluation or any type of treatment , such as counseling, without his parents taking him is if he harmed himself to the point that he had to go to the hospital.
There are many suicide prevention hotlines which are toll-free and open 24 hours. There are also many online communities which offer support and information about suicide and suicide prevention.
Suicide hotlines:
1-800-273-TALK (http://www.suicidepreventionlifeline.org)
1-800-SUICIDE (http://www.hopeline.com)
Also, here is an excellent article that might be beneficial to your friend, it is written for people thinking about suicide, and it will offer more information than I can.

I hope those links help and provide you with the information you are looking for.

Yes, Yes, and Yes. You need to tell somebody or anybody who is willing to listen. Are you in school? If so then try the a favorite teacher, counselor, even the school nurse. Telling someone is helping him. If you really care about this person then you will let someone know who will help him.

My husband is suicidal and i know how hard it is to talk them out of it, his family don't like me and tell me i am the one who causes it when it is his problems that he can't deal with. You need to get him to professional help which is sometimes hard to motivate them to go, just try to listen and support him as a friend.

You might want to look into groups or a phone number if you're really worried and want to do soemthing now. It's good you still care about him. I just hope he isn't bluffing. My old therapist gave me the number I provided. I've never use dit but it's not just for suiside but for helping someone your woried about as well. They should be able to provide you help and references to help your ex out.
Good luck.
