I think it depends on the personality of your dog. Some dogs chew on everything they can get at,which is probably a reason why a puppy would go off his food. You should keep a close eye on him or dont allow him to chew anything dangerous.Even dog toys should be kept away from puppies as they can swallow parts of them and this will put them off their food.
Otherwise if your dog is teething and is off his food, try ween him slowly back onto it again.Try a tiny bit of milk mixed with warm water, not too much milk though it may be harmful.(even though i have a load of dogs and they all love some milk now and again i dont think it does much harm but some people say it does).Or try watery readybreak.
If your dog is chewing on things and you cant stop him you can always go down to your local pet store and buy a dog friendly bon, which will also cleam his teeth.

A lot of pups don't want to chew hard food while teething. My pup didn't, so what I would suggest is putting a small amount of warm water to soften the food. My baby loved her food that way. Also, since teething can be painful, she would love to eat ice. Either crushed or cubed. Also try nylabone dog toys. They last a while and it helped her with teething. They have softer bones and harder bones. The softer ones are good for teething pups. Have fun with your puppy!!

I did have a puppy that didn't want to eat for a couple of days and she had a very lose tooth in her mouth and I guess it was very uncomfortable for her to eat hard dog food. Try soft dog food and see if your puppy will eat that.

Sometimes they do go off their food a little, mainly if it is uncomfortable to chew because of sore gums etc.
Try soft things like scrabbled eggs worked for my little pup!

No it shouldn't do,my dogs never did.Make sure you provide good chew toys while your pup is teething as this helps comfort them, your pup will chew other things if he cant on toys.
