What is the reason a girl would give a guy a fake number? Is that common practice or does this only apply to nice guys?

hey boy she did not want to be rude on the spot , but she did not wish to continue seeing u!!!
I guess u are a nice guy, and we girls should be more streightforward in being able to say no rather than faking the phone no and keeping ur hopes high until than.....

Why a girl would give a guy a fake number... well, I did that a couple times before, but I regret doing so. It's rude and even though you did that to be nice, you actually hurt them more. It is pretty common and doesn't apply to the "nice" type of guys. It applies to pretty much anybody. If they don't like you but don't want to be mean and aren't very upfront with their feelings, they will most likely give you a fake number. When I did that, I knew I would most likely not see that person again, otherwise, I would've said no, sorry.

That is very common for a female to give a guy the wrong number. Basically, is just an indiscreet way of saying, I'm not interested, a lot of men just do not take no for an answer, or they may get greatly offended by, NO, so, to avoid an unpleasant confrontation, give them the wrong number, smile, and go, you'll probably never see them again.

She doesn't want contact from the guy. Instead of just saying so, she may be trying to not make the guy look bad in front of his buddies. That or he's being persistent and annoying and won't quit until he got a number. So she just gives him a fake one to get him to stop.

Girls with very little brain power do this. Apparently, they are incapable of telling the person wanting the phone number that they aren't interested in striking up any sort of friendship with them. Very lame. Very rude. And also quite lucky for the recipient of the fake number. Think about it, at least she saved you the problem of extricating yourself from a touchy situation when you realised that she couldn't hold a conversation which extended past what she was going to wear to the next club and what she said about her about him about wotever rot she's gossiping about today........

PEACE & LOVE & ALL THAT

I have given a fake number to guys who were too persistent. Guys that I liked well enough but had no attraction too, or guys that I thought were jerks and wouldn't back off. It's always been when a guy won't take "no" for an answer when they ask for my number.

also to get u off her back.

doesnt matter for nice guys
SHE IS NOT INTERESTED bottom line
and u probably do this to every other grl all the time

Really sorry, girls do that to get rid of a guy who they want to leave them alone. I've done it before at parties myself. But are you sure that it is a fake, maybe you just misdialled or one number looks like another.

That's pretty common practice. It's because we don't want to hurt your feelings while we're looking at you because then we would only go out with you out of pitty and we would be miserable the whole time. It's also just funny sometimes. Especially when it's a big jerk.

It means you seemed like a nice guy, so she didn't want to hurt your feelings or make you lose face in front of your friends... but that she's just not that into you.
