A bad relationship is much more painful. Loneliness can be alleviated by becoming active with persons involved in projects you have an interest in. Also a good way to meet new people and, perhaps, form a good, fulfilling relationship.

I guess it depends on you. I like my time by myself. But its because I have no time. If work keeps you occupied enough, you shudn't have to turn to a relationship.
In fact there's no such thing as loneliness..if you feel lonely, then you're either slacking, or have way too much time on your hands.
Use that time productively, to cultivate yourself..read books, paint, listen to good music..hell ...write music! Go out, meet people...see places...so much to do !!

and eventually the right person will come along.....

The relationship is more painful by far...

however:

The loneliness WILL wear on your nerves after a while and voila...get ready for pain because you just found yourself in another relationship.

Loneliness is painful, but being in an abusive relationship is worse.

Picture this

You are happily ever after with that certain guy/girl. All the sudden she/he leaves you and doesn't want to be with you. The experience after that is loneliness times 10 In my opinion.

Wow what a depressing thread...
A relationship, with the right person, can be the greatest thing- to have a mate, a partner.

A bad relationship can be a depressing thing...

If you require companionship, but have none, youll be lonly..
But you shouldnt need a relationship to validate your sense of self worth...

Loneliness.
If you are in a relationship at least you can communicate or talk to the other person even if it is bad.

However, if you are alone you can't say anything to anyone.
